More power efficient hardware does help the US keep its edge. I want to see the US beat the chinks by a wide margin. I really do. But with Jews you lose. Those two big companies (OpenAI and Anthropic) are ran by Jews that have wasted so much compute because they thought throwing more at it would lead to another breakthrough (which is what happened with the original GPT moment, a bigger model trained for longer showed some generalisation across tasks it hadn't seen before).But the real breakthrough is going to be in software, where someone figures out how to do the same as these large 1.5 Trillion parameter models but at like a hundredth of the compute cost.The US will never figure that out with jeets. A guy like Jim, maybe but I think he's kind of past his prime. I do genuinely worry about the US in that I would like to see like younger versions of this guy actively attacking the software problem.The chinks are making their optimisations and weights public too so while they are helping reduce the cost for the little guys these smaller optimisations isn't where it's at, even in software. Someone needs to build a new architecture that does what the transformer is doing but better. I don't even think chinks will be able to invent this, they will just keep optimising the white man's tech in small ways, which is like, thanks for publishing that and all but it's not going to change the world.White men will. Always have, always will. Fix your fucking visa system. You want to kick out the dumb H1B jeets. Scrap H1B. Extend the O1 visa, if you're going to import people they might as well be math Olympiad autists or something like that that will actually be useful. Because importing a million more jeets is just going to give the US more scams. More plastic waste. More shit in the street.
