You had Ukrainians smashing Polish babies' heads into trees, Germans putting Jews in mass graves, Russians ethnically cleansing Germans from the entire region. Then before Apartheid in South Africa, there were 50% as many mixed race people as there were whites. There was mass intermingling. Didn't stop the Afrikaners from enacting segregation. Politics is the art of the possible. Even normal people can be convinced to do extreme things when push comes to shove.
