What is the political reason for cars being so much shittier now than they were in the past?
>>542828887It's called planned obsolescence.
>>542828887Someone will be here shortly to tell OP all about how the new ones are better.
But I agree with OP.
>>542829017Bump.
>>542828887That car is a gas guzzler, handles like a boat, has the horsepower of a car half its size, no torque and would be complete toast in well under 10 years.
>>542829137>That car is a gas guzzler, handles like a boat, has the horsepower of a car half its size, no torque and would be complete toast in well under 10 years.but you can comfortably have sex in the back seat
>>542829039Probably could fit a lot of guns and knives in the trunk of that baby.
>>542829441
>>542829017Sick Cuda! Ford makes the coolest race cars.
>>542829377I like the land yachts. But I never owned one. They have their issues (apparently).Modern cars are build to be used and thrown away. Like a cheese burger. They are also designed to serve their master (picrel).
>>542828887it's a huge convergence of a lot of thingsthe after-effects of historical directives from the Soviet Union to the Communist Part USA to deliberately degrade Western art and aesthetics, to attack the morale of the peopleburdensome safety regulations, ever-increasing in number and complexitycomputers becoming fast enough to allow design software to incorporate bézier curves and automatic impact-safety maximisation, causing cars to converge around the local optima inadvertently created by the software, so that they all begin to look the samefalling standards of labour and quality of product, as American manufacturing dies and corporations adopt 'managed decline' cost-saving measures, with managers only hoping to get to the end of their careers and cash out before the sector collapses entirely -- so cheap materials, cheap construction, intentional design faults, and no bold and disruptive ideas which risk losing moneyand there are wider societal issues which are more generally stifling art, design, and engineering - 'The Fountainhead' comes to mind, DEI/DIE, that sort of thingpeople are being oppressed, suppressed, and genocided; the young men who might have designed the next generation of truly great cars are being psychically attacked, socially marginalised, and driven to self-eradication

>>542828887>What is the political reason for cars being so much shittier now than they were in the past?Probably because you're in India and have never owned a car. My 2014 Rav4 has 180,000 miles on it and will get another 100,000 with no more than brakes, tires, and oil changes. I never seen a 70s or 80s car make it much past 100 without needing a new engine, transmission or too much other work to bother fixing. I owned a couple mid 90's Jeeps with the 4.0l that (barely) broke 200K miles but I had to replace the rear ends several times, front suspension every few years, and the fuel economy was worse than my brother's new RAM3500 diesel dually.Post pictures of what you drive with timestamp, Sukhpreet.
>>542828992Cool pic
>>542828887The people telling you that you need trackers, cameras, and kill switches in your vehicle haven't had kill switches installed.
jews.
>>542828887certified lemons machine
>>542828887Cars? It's all SUVs and SUVs-lite because there's so many goddam hamplanets now who struggle to fit their fat ass in a regular seat. Ford doesn't even make a family sedan anymore.
>>542830308A lot of them were clunky junkers.
>>542828887They're superior than in that past. More reliable, better gas mileage, safer, and you have to do almost nothing for maintenance.

>>542828887Juden
Or the Viper GTS
>>542832162Dukes of Hazzard.
>>542830272My friend had a 1989 caprice with over 600000 km on it. He only got rid of it because he gave it back to the original owner.
>>542829377>Has never had sex in the back of a Kia Soul
>>542831763Back then, old people also didn't own everything to the same extend. Now most of the voting is done by old generations (who need other to fix their problems). This is also how they got us on the driving license in the EU.> It is basically impossible to transport anything without professional license.> This was only applied to young people> So old people were unaffected> young people also weren't affected at the time (too young)Then gradually people realise what was taken, but they have already firmly established it and they won't reverse it (not like voting gives the population control over this).Democracy just means you are doing fine as long as you do what the majority wants. Although we also only get this on issues where people would be willing to go fight the government. Else they basically do what they want.
>>542828887Had the pleasure of riding in one of these when I was a little kid. Nice fucking car. However, what Montalban said about the pure Corinthian leather was bullshit. That was definitely vinyl that I sat on.
>>542829552Dad had a 1973 Fleetwood Brougham. We saw another one in a dealer lot years later and I told my Dad I wanted to check something that I wasn't sure that I had remembered correctly. I opened both back doors and, sure enough, with just a little crouching, you could literally step into one doorway, walk across the passenger compartment, and out the other doorway.

>>542834176Nuts. I think the longest Cadillac ever produced was something like 22ft long.
Bump.
>>542828887For me, cars hit the sweet spot of performance, looks, reliability, tech and comfort in the 90s. Totally different mindset behind the product, gone now.
Oldfag. First car was a '77 Ford Granada. Enormous POS- underpowered, handled like crap, a "coupe" but too big and ugly to have any grace. But oh well, beat walking to school. And I took out the seatbelts and put Armor All on the vinyl backseats to make the car-less buddies who broke my balls violently slide all over the place when I gave them rides. Sold it to buy an Olds 98 with a 400 Rocket motor. It got 6mpg sitting just in the driveway with the ignition off. I think gas just evaporated. Four teammates could sit in the back seat in a pinch. Thanks for reading my blog.
>>542840168Yeah I can see that.
