He has sued for peace multiple times and has made it clear he wants to defend ethnic Russians living in eastern Ukraine and ensure Ukraine remains a neutral nation so he doesn't have to deal with NATO building a base on Russia's doorstep (remember the Cuban Missile Crisis)The war is going badly for Ukraine and the western neoliberal elite absolutely cannot allow Ukraine to lose. They've invested hundreds of billions of dollars into Ukraine and if it were to lose, it would cause economic ruin to the entire western capitalist environment. Just look at how much BlackRock has invested into Ukraine. Another issue that gets overlooked is how Russia has access to the world's largest reserve of fresh water and rare earth minerals.
