Even trains are diesel electric; they use the fuel to spin a generator. A high price is bad, but is passed on to consumers. Each beef cow takes 100g of diesel to raise. Even 1g of diesel takes 0.2g (20%) to get it from refinery to market. Diesel is up over 100% since the war started, so everything inflates. NO diesel is however death. Companies stop paying people when they are shutdown and layoff quickly. People go find other jobs. Some shit cannot be paused and restarted easily. There are essential things that are just meant to run nonstop. Farmers have to harvest and bring to market at certain times. In some cases if they have to wait to harvest, process and ship, you lose crops or animals.
