If you look up Dr. Peter Beter, Nixon's Presidential Science Advisor, on the Internet Archive you will find there a series of audio letters he sent in cassette format to his friends, in which he explains that in his time even there were two kinds of clones, robotoids, and bioroids. Robotoids had a sort of image of the person's up to date brain (apparently gained by sectioning and holography of the sections) and an electro-biological body. Their minds are quite unstable but the body is quite stable. Then there are the bioroids, which are made using human and bovine and porcine DNA and cellular materials in vats, these are given a somewhat poorer quality body which only endures for a year or two max, but which have a much more human character to them. They can carry the human brain after death of the prior body. But the time delay between death and transplant has everything to do with the resulting quality of the "clone."I urge you to listen to his letters.
