I'm a dual leaf/burger citizen who has lived years in both countries. But if Ottawa continues down this path I think war is inevitable. Peace between the two requires insanely tight security agreements and cooperation. The border is just too massive for the countries to actually have to defend it. And if Ottawa keeps looking for overseas protectors against Washington, then they'll actually be making the exact situation Washington can't tolerate - too much foreign influence in Canada. There's a parallel to Russia and Ukraine, where the West kept pushing and deepening ties with Kiev to the point where Moscow could no longer accept it.
