The internet turned into an organic thing into a way to make money, companies turned it into a profit. It's being overrun by the third world now. I remember when 4chan used to have tons of original greentext stories, now its just sharing twitter rage bait. Youtube used to videos made by some guy with a camcorder or machinima... Forums are basically dead besides some boomers keeping them alive. From my observations in real life the problem is short-form content. People are just scrolling reels on instagram, youtube shorts, or tiktoks. My parents used to read books together every night and now they tell me they just scroll on their phones watching garbage... its sad.
