You will always have a measure of foreign money coming into the strip because Vegas, even if it isn't the /only/ place you can gamble in, has the pedigree of being the glitzy, glamorous gambling capital of the world. It's always going to be something to see for some Philippino or Chinese to come in and bring his executive buddies to blow through $10,000USD twice a year before buying overpriced suits to show off and a few gifts for their wives at home. Depending on where they were coming from, there's even benefit to losses because a lot of these expenses are run through company cards and domestic government tourism grants they can funnel money that's not even theirs into, justifying an expenses increase on reports for next year. The damage is almost 99% how dogshit the economy is for the Americans who used to flow through here. Nobody has any extra to bring to the strip, and what little extra they have left is being chipped away at before they even get to the casino. Double/Triple prices for nightly stays at hotels (worse if you aren't a resident, because you can't even take advantage of kickbacks and other sales for locals), resort fees and extortionately increasing pricing fees not at all comped by the casinos people are staying at, cost of drinks and food is reaching restaurant levels for amenities that used to just be issued to people who simply attended, and even the live shows are getting more expensive with each year. By the time you just get to the casino itself, that $1000 you saved up for a vegas trip has turned into ~300, and once you burn through that money losing at a blackjack table, you're rewarded with overpacked clubs (Don't forget to keep some money off to the side for the attendance fee) with overpriced drinks, shitty strip clubs with some of the most assembly-line "shows" possible, and movie theaters of a lower quality than your hometown. It's just awful.
