If god real, why TF he did this?

>>543072701
It makes perfect sense. Think harder
>>
>>543072701
That's not real. It's mathematicians making up math again.
>>
>>543072701
why not?
It's cool how many layers of complexity there are

the universe really is mocking us with this one

Pilpul, mathematician garbage

The value -1/12 comes from a different context: the Riemann zeta function. Zeta(s) is defined for s > 1 as the sum 1/1^s + 1/2^s + ... and can be analytically continued to almost the entire complex plane. Plugging s = -1 into the continuation yields zeta(-1) = -1/12. Formally, the sum at s = -1 would look like 1 + 2 + 3 + ..., but the series representation no longer holds there - you are only reading off the value of the continued function. Ramanujan summation and zeta regularization also assign this value to the divergent series, each with precisely defined rules that differ from the ordinary notion of summation.

What is interesting is that this value is not mere play: in physics, for instance in the Casimir effect and in string theory, exactly this regularization yields measurably correct results.

>If god real, why TF he did this?
You know how your calculator starts showing funny symbols when the result is too high ?
Same happens here because infinities dont exist. They are purely theoretical. So when you try to show infinity in finite universe it breaks.
>>
>>543072701
God or No God makes no difference here.
Mathematics is eternal. It exists no matter if anyone is actually doing anything with it.

Also, it's wrong. In order to derive -(1/12) you need to assume, that 1+2+3+4+... converges, that this infinite sum has an upper limit. (It clearly does not.)
If you make that (wrong) assumption, you can show that the value is -(1/12), yes, but arguing with a wrong assumption invalidates any and all derivations you make based on it.
It's like all those "If Communism worked"-arguments. It does not work, so any arguing based on it working is fucking worthless.
>>
>>543076042
>(It clearly does not.)
it does ... as we trough the three dots assume mutt
>>
>>543076188
the "equals" is doing the bullshit, not the dots
>>
>>543076252
whatever
>>
>>543076188
Since you were citing the Zeta-function yourself:
That value is but an analytic continuation outside the function's original domain.
It's outside the domain precisely because 1+2+3+... trivially does not converge.

Besser FRITZZZ ?

they seem to think that they are going to make some kind of headway studying math because its going to help them crack bitcoin or something. I told them not to bother... its just a huge fucking waste of time. And they are going to soo disappointed when they figure out why.

>>543076556
>der Grenzwert ist unendlich
Was sollte dann >>543076188?
Zeta ist für "-1" nicht definiert. -(1/12) ist das Ergebnis, wenn du die Funktion über den wohldefinierten Bereich hinaus analytisch fortsetzt.
Da sind wir beide auf derselben Seite.

RSA will never get cracked. They are just going to keep increasing the key size. The problem space is infinitely random because prime and composite numbers are random. Bitcoin is planning sometime in the near future to shut the blockchain down for a year so they can upgrade the key size. There isn't any magic solution. Smarter people have looked at this. A LOT. The prime have been studied by every civilization going back 1000s of years. Computers have only increased the speed at which we can guess them.

>>543077066
i know i know, between 892 or so and 2k ( let ignore 16k ) keysize are universes inbetween.
but data - encrypted with keys less than this are now decryptable - and as they store ALL AND EVERYTHING ....

They are. They're planning to teach amerinegrus vulgaris the basics of math.

Let me tell you as a math studend: It's simply wrong. That's all. Nothing to discuss.
>>
>>543076042
No assumptions are used. The issue is it combines two series with different infinities. Basic number theory mistake.

>>543072701
Good question. Why did god make stupid people???
>>
>>543072701
That right there is God's fingerprint. The mathematically unprovable is paradoxically a theoretical certainty.
>>
>>543072701
So infinity = -1/12.
Holy crap, I'm gonna take -1/12 dollars from my bank and then try to withdraw infinite money and see if it works LOL!
>>
>>543080515
>its simply wrong. Thats all.
The way its wrong is of critical
Importance as it shows a fundamental error in a lot of relativity and string theory models. Learning to recognize that infinity-infinity is any possible number, meaning they are not the same and the sets cannot be added willy nilly, radically changes the math.

who the fuck is so fucking retarded and thinks infnity = infinity or infinity-infinity and then assume they are the same number because hurr durr they are the same word. Only fucking braincel low IQ black african niggers think like that.

>who is so stupid
Most “scientists” and “mathematicians”. Theres a reason physics has totally stagnated as a field, and its not because modern “scientists” are geniuses….
>>
>>543081459
I don't think they are that dumb but readings are confusing and ai has replaced them they really have no chance to make the pertinent experiments in this system, they are left with computer simulations that mostly solve themselves and ignore reading parameters
>>
>>543081631
>its not that theyre dumb
>its that theyve outsourced their thinking
In other words, they are dumb AND lazy. If you cannot or will not understand the math behind your model, then the tesult is the same. Mouth drooling retard or lazy genius both lead to failed “science” and simulations arent science. Never have been never will be.

If you conclude the OP pic you did your math wrong. Has to do with the Zeta Function being applicable only to arguments greater than 0.
>>
>>543080857
Infinity doesnt exist. It is unimaginable. You are typing and saying but you cant comprehend it. -1/12 is just the universe's way or math's way to tell you that reality breaks if you try to understand infinity.
