I like the idea of designer babies if it means lifting the human average across the board. The elite already breed with each other and their children often come out ugly and mentally unhinged which goes to show that there is an element of randomness to how genes interact with each other.Breed two CEOs together and you get a neurotic mess.

And an 'augmented' well-paired man and woman is unlikely to be consistently better by any significant margin over a non-augmented pair. It is what it is, the situation is highly complex and difficult to predict, especially when you get to 'higher intelligence' levels.
