The price-out was always creeping along steadily anyways, the recent supply hiccups/tariff consequences just sped up what was always going to happen anyways. It's happening in the US, and in Canada, and probably everywhere else; our herds are primarily produced for foreign markets and restaurants. The pressure from widening foreign markets was less pronounced in the USA due to scale and various direct and indirect subsidies they have, but what you're seeing now is the same thing people were laughing at Canada for a few years ago, and wherever you live might be next.My province for example produces plenty of beef (Alberta), but vast swaths are factory for processing/sale in China and elsewhere, with most domestic cuts being reserved for restaurants long before the animal's generation is even born. One of our main exports is food. Same with the USA. Get mad at the temporary spikes in pressure, sure, they truly are fucking stupid.But the actual issue is systemic and it won't reverse until it's confronted and dealt with honestly.
