My dad helped his mom off and on the plane on a visit in 2000. Told that story at her funeral in 2022 and my younger cousins were also shocked that they let us get to the gate and him on the plane.

I remember those days. Whenever we'd fly home from my grandparent's house in Portland they'd walk right up to the boarding gate and wait with us. I remember looking out the window at the planes and ground crews as my grandfather explained what was happening outside.
