Catholic here, but when I look back at the history of some Protestant denominations, a lot of them seem quite sensible, at the very least in the realm of morality. The most insane groups were stuff like early Jehovah's Witnesses, who many people don't even consider Christian.Now all of a sudden, everything in Protestantism has gotten really fucking weird. On one end of the spectrum, you have these rainbow-stoled lesbians talking about how God is a non-binary trans person of color. On the other, Pastor Billy is coming out with another end-times prophecy every two weeks to replace the incorrect one from two weeks before, and blaming said incorrectness on his congregation for not giving enough money to Israel so they can blow up Orthodox pilgrimage sites. My question to any and all Protestants here is this: what the hell is going on?

Protestantism was crazy from the beginning. In Cromwellian England after the civil war, there was every sort of insane Protestant sect happening.
