I am a male nurse (I know). In the past, people of all types just accepted whatever the doctor recommended and left. Now, anyone not on medicare is suddenly asking for billing codes and evaluating prices, and in most cases turning it down. Someone came in crawling on the floor with kidney stones and vomiting from pain. After being told his medicine and imaging would be only $100 after insurance, he declined treatment and limped back out of the hospital, barely able to walk from pain.
Well a few years back, I saw drink sizes at fast food restauraunts shrinking back to pre-2000 sizes. Used to be small (16oz), medium (20oz), and large (32oz?). Old small went away and the old medium was called small. Then the old small reappeared as "value." Now there's an even smaller size that's called value so the old small can come back.Also it's been probably a decade since I saw any BOGO sale at retail. They've all been spend-x-get-y (points or percentages). Hell, you don't see any really across the board price cuts either. Like you don't see, for instance, TransFormers toys marked down $5 for a holiday or back-to-school sale. Even Walmart charges MSRP for toys, though myths of them being cheaper than competitors still persist.Every support channel being hidden, Pajeets, or a slopbot isn't anything new. I live in a port town and marine paint has been shooting up in price since the big BASF plant in Germany shut down a few years ago, it's like $120 a gallon now. Now people use some Chinese marine paint which is much cheaper, it has this blue-grey look to it. But it doesn't last nearly as long.
