Russia built two space elevators

The green landmass is the outline of Russia (primarily its densely settled European portion). Height and color show how many people live in each small grid cell:

Taller / redder spikes = higher population density.
The enormous central-right spike is Moscow.
The smaller yellow-green spike to the west is St. Petersburg.
The rest of the country appears relatively flat because most of Russia’s land is sparsely populated.

These visualizations are commonly built from high-resolution gridded population data (Kontur, GHSL, or WorldPop) and rendered with tools such as rayshader or Aerialod. The color gradient (green yellow red) is a standard way to emphasize the tallest peaks.
