Oracle is shit. They're like IBM, you can barely even figure out what they do other than service legacy contracts. I know a guy who works for a tractor company, the big one, and they had some thing that collects telemetry from tractor engines, it was architected as a complete cloud application and set up to handle scaling to the biggest loads. But the way the tractors were set up was the telemetry wasn't sent in real time, and it was compressed or zipped or something and sent periodically, very small amounts of data amounting to on average a dozen or two kb/sec for the whole nation. He had wanted to move it on-prem (you could use a Raspberry Pi easily) but they wanted the cloud solution. Multiply this waste by every large company and you can see that we have way too much capacity built into the system than we actually need. And Oracle is selling this capacity, cloud is right up there with databases for them these days. And nobody chooses Oracle databases willingly, it's a legacy thing or some dumb executive goes ORACLE.

But regulatory slowness and EPA bullshit has resulted in the necessary LNG pipeline not being built yet.As a result of not having electricity, the official opening of the datacentre has been pushed back, because you need power for data.Oracle is contractually obliged to pay for that datacentre's capacity when it comes online. But it's not structured as "when the datacentre comes online, Oracle will start paying to lease it". It's structured as "The datacentre will be operational on whatever date. Oracle will start paying to lease it on whatever date, also". And obviously now the datacentre won't be ready on whatever date. However the contractual clause that Oracle will start paying to lease it on whatever date still exists and is contractually valid, which seems dumb, but hey I'm not a corporate lawyer. So Oracle are claiming that the regulatory red tape slowing the gas pipeline is a force majeure allowing them to not start paying for the lease on whatever date, because it won't be online by then so they won;t be able to use it.
