Jordan Hewitt, 24, of North Ayrshire Scotland, pleaded guilty to three child sexual offences at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court. He admitted possessing indecent images of children between August 2020 and August 2024, distributing them between February 2023 and August 2024, and engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child under 13.Police raided Hewitt’s former Irvine home in August 2024 and seized his electronic devices. They uncovered 32 indecent images, including 18 Category A, 11 Category B and three Category C images. A further 21 videos were found, 19 of them Category A.Officers also discovered social media conversations with “like-minded individuals”, including the sharing of images allegedly altered or AI-generated to make a female child appear naked.Two videos created by Hewitt in December 2022 showed a young girl sleeping in bed before the camera panned to him performing a sex act beside her. The child was unaware of what was happening.Despite the disturbing evidence, the convicted child sex offender has escaped prison. His solicitor pointed to his lack of previous convictions, early guilty plea and remorse, while citing poor mental health and social isolation.Sheriff Colin Bissett said the offences were serious enough to justify a custodial sentence and described Hewitt’s behaviour as “disgusting”. But he ultimately chose rehabilitation over imprisonment.Hewitt was handed a three-year community payback order, social work supervision, 300 hours of unpaid work and the Moving Forward 2 Change programme. He was also placed on the sex offenders register for three years.
