Think it's supposed to be temporary. If you permanently have no sense of self, not only would that lead to car accidents and stuff probably, probably really bad for survival and fitness. Experiencing ego death though is probably a HUGE help for people trapped in vicious cycles and chasing victory highs. Anyone fixated on the achievement train journey probably would benefit, and anyone who's not satisfied while having relationships, goods, and meaningful work most people can only wish for. Think either by psychedelics or meditation there's a psychosis risk though.
