The population of cities around the world keeps increasing but the number of people on the streets keeps decreasing, even if everyone supposedly stayed inside because of their screens and devices, there should at least be a slight but noticeable uptick in the amount of humans outside. What gives?

I remember a guy was making YouTube videos of him going through the US from city to city showing empty streets, buildings and houses. He would even enter federal buildings with no locked doors. Then he started talking about interdimensional beings taking him from the real world and putting him in the empty fake world and also talked about how these beings were getting these cities ready so that people who cross the dimensions will not know cause the fake world is 1:1 Just like the real world. Turns out the guy making the YouTube videos was just some random guy working an office job until he was chosen.
