>Check r/recruiting
>Constant bitching about H1-Bs
>How they’re always lying
>Have no real accreditation
>Never have the skills they claim to have
>Constantly fired for incompetency
>They make the staffing agency look bad because they always do a bad job and make the recruiter look like a retard to the client
Oh, I have a solution. I’ll leave them a comment that should help their solution. “Have you tried hiring an American citizen?”
>-20,000 downdoots

I don’t get it. What is corporate America’s obsession with fucking Indians? People always say
>They’re cheaper
But I don’t think that’s true. Consider how much the company pays in the stupid VISA/H1-B fees. How much they pay in relocation stipends. The amount of turnover they have because H1-Bs can’t do anything. How many H1-Bs don’t do anything or do everything wrong. The amount of H1-Bs holding senior positions that require 10 years of experience, collecting the highest salary band, that, in reality, have 0 years of relevant experience.

Do companies actually save money on this shit?

>If I refuse to deal with H1-Bs, I won't have any candidates.
In other words, non H1-B workers have been completely pushed out from even looking in the job market.

The pay they are posting is probably 40-60% of the standard rate so is not going to get any American unless they are on hard times.

Definitely not going to get an American if you skimp on pay.

Idgi, what does this redditor mean by this, is he saying that the only candidates in the job market are Indians that too lying about their credentials?

>“Have you tried hiring an American citizen?”
You need to understand how corporations think. They've "tried" to hire Americans, so they task HR to find people, but HR keeps the standards one must meet in order to do an email job at their company so high that everyone gets filtered out through either AI resume screening software or a round of 5 interviews - eg "no one wants to work anymore". If you think the number of well-qualified people they reject is bad, you'll be even more shocked by the incompetents and liars who they end up hiring.
HR doesn't understand the jobs they're hiring for but they insist that they do and this is a big reason that the talent at a lot of American companies has declined so greatly.

Here’s the situation OP is in.
>Job doesn’t pay enough for an experienced candidate in NYC
So clearly the solution is to hire a bright, young American citizen who just graduated. He’ll work for less money and learn to be good at the job. Perfect, right?
>Nope, job wants 10 years of experience.
>Better hire an Indian who is obviously lying on his resume, will cost more money, and actually has 0 years of experience instead
>>
>>543265107
Recruiters used to host job fair. Go touch booth table lmao.
>>
>>543265107
no foreigner should be hired untill everyone here who wants a job has one.
if no one that applies is "good enough" in their eyes, then the position can stay empty and divide the work among the people there until they all quit and the company fails, or they finally get desperate enough to pay a decent wage and train an American who may not be perfect and have 100 years of experience fresh out of college.
let companies die off or adapt
>>
>>543265519
He means he can't underpay and overdemand from American workers in order for his shit business to survive in the first place.

>Recruiters used to host job fair. Go touch booth table lmao
I just went to a career fair. Recruiters just tape a QR code to the table and tell you to apply online. They won’t even read your resume if you hand it to them on paper. Recruiters are also so fucking risk averse now until that they won’t offer a candidate until they’ve screened 500 candidates across 30 states and done 5 rounds of interviews. Nobody wants to just hire a bright young dude who’s
>Good enough
Every recruiter wants to be the one that recruited the Michael Jordan of sending emails and brewing coffee in the break room.

Recruiters are so lazy and retarded. I don’t know why companies even waste money on them. No wonder they’re always the first to get laid off when the economy hits the shitter.

Think I applied to this one and turned it down at the 3rd round because they mentioned I'd be expected to be 24 hour on call but can only bill 25 hours max.

Do you guys just not have successful friends? I feel like 99% of the losers who can't get jobs just don't have friends. That's what networking means, you know. Make sure you have friends who are going places and work in powerful positions. They get you jobs. Shit you don't even that much training for. Or *god forbid* a college degree.

I've never been jobless for more than a few months and I have never taken job applications seriously because I usually know someone high up in the company and they guarantee me a position. Hell, my first job was in property management making $150k a year, all properties on the coast. All I had to do was take a stupid online course and got a certificate mailed in. That was 10 years ago.

Do asocial losers really spend time sending 500 applications a day and curate their LinkedIn profile and shit like that? Like I'm not even kidding, it just seems like such a strange, far-off foreign world to me. Don't you realize it's a humiliation ritual and all you really need is to be friendly and have the right connections?

The recruiting faggot should be looking for recent grads who have an ML background and just pay for the gay cert once hired as all it consists of is can you use this cloud API saar

A lot of jobs these days are demanding a hyper specific set of job skills that may not be common to have, although may have equivalents you could obtain elsewhere. A human who has worked in that field could make a decent judgement call about what skills could be transferable, and that could be learned on the job.

But the ATS will filter out whoever doesn't precusely match what the job description, and the recruiter isn't skilled in the job they're hiring for and can't make those kinds of judgement calls. So the only people who make it to a screening interview to begin with are people who lied about their experience, and the rare unicorn who actually does have it all but will demand actually high pay.
>>

The nature of MMT and stakeholder corporatism is that businesses have to grow infinitely while operating on progressively slimmer margins
Indian H1Bs are essentially doing to the white collar market what mexicans and south americans did to the blue collar/low skill shiftwork market
basically if you forced American companies to hire Americans, what would happen is that the next quarter, they'd post -10% in the earnings call, it'd be absolute fucking pandemonium, and it would immediately result in a depression
I'm not saying that this is bad, it's just that all of these companies' valuations are essentially based on how effectively they use what is basically slave labor. If you make the market fair for Americans and allow labor price discovery to happen, boomers would wake up to a fat, red -55% on their 401ks immediately afterwards

having anyone change jobs is an inefficiency
you're seeing the downstream result of 30 years of "mobility" in the labor market, which is a bad thing
Companies should be terrified of their highly skilled person leaving and compensate them accordingly

Consulting companies have convinced corporations that the best thing to do is to fire everyone right before the quarter earning reports to make the numbers look good. Then re-hire them next quarter.

I think effectively the question is just
>"Why are there no highly-skilled and qualified people willing to do white collar technical work on-location in one of the most expensive parts of the country for $15.31/hour and no benefits?"
>>
>>543269006
This is what it boils down to. They want specialized skillsets but don’t want to pay for the certifications. There is an entire industry in India that helps Indians secure credentials through fraudulent means. Here in the USA, paying a thousand dollars for a test that is entirely dependent on vendor-wording is downright asinine. Ultimately HR is to blame though; their knowledge of CS comes from watching CSI and they just copy and paste senior requirements to every position.

>>543265107
They infiltrated the big boy companies and hire their own. Also boomers fucking hate their kids and want them replaced with jeets who they think are heckin hard workers because they spend 30 hours a day kissing their ass
>>
>>543265107
They're obsessed because its their last gasp of trying to have a pre-trained workforce they don't have to spend money on training to make the shareholders happy. This started after the 2008 crisis when millennials were entering the job market. Back then you began to see a lot of "entry level" positions with companies requiring 5 years of related experience to even be considered for an interview, because training new employees costs money. So as a result, large numbers millennial workers never began the path to being senior employees or middle managers. We are now seeing the consequences of that, they need experienced employees NOW but they never trained the millennials to be able to step up into senior level positions that are being vacated by boomers and soon gen-Xers. So their last (false) hope is hiring H1-B's who claim to have the experience they need. But because there is a huge amount of lying and fraud with all these Indians coming with bogus degrees from diploma mills, this is all for naught. I'm not saying it's directly imminent, but there is going to be a huge reckoning at some point in the next two decades with the American economy and job market from all of this.
>>
>>543265107
what website is that?
>>
>>543271230
this is basically it. Who impresses boomers more? The worker who can get everything done in 4 hours or the one who looks busy for 8hrs and takes two shifts to do the job that the other guy could do in half a shift? From all of my experiences in boomer offices, the second individual who appears busy for longer is the one who most impresses the boomer.
>>
>>543265428
The rates they pay H1Bs are 2-3x the industry average and 3-5x the median income and thats before fees, attorneys, dwdicated staff to handle the paperwork , RSUs, bonuses and relocation.

>No wonder they’re always the first to get laid off when the economy hits the shitter.
That's not always true. I work for Merck as a contractor. The guy I replaced (he retired) was a contractor for 7 years, after getting laid off for working the same place for 20+ years. I thought the same as you but being a FTE isn't a guarantee especially if you're reaching retirement age, theyll axe those one's first to pay less on pensions or whatever.

My mom got laid off from BMS after 19 years, if she'd have been able to make it to 20 it would have been a significantly larger pension package.

As a contractor, one-third of that is taken in taxes. The rest by commuting and rent/mortgage in Rahway.

As a small business owner I think I have some insight. Most Americans are looking for the easy way out. Meaning they are always on high alert for situations that might call for a lawsuit. So me as a small business owner wants a competent worker but someone who I know won't pull shit like this in order to screw me over.
>>
>>543265107
Unironically companies should just return to have people walk in off the streets with a firm handshake and resume. Like what boomers always talk about from back in the day.
>>
>>543275396
That is why so many people hire Mexicans because one they have very limited power since they aren't even citizens and two they work harder than Americans. Id imagine it's the same for tech companies. I mean look at those cases where the dei niggresses who have sued their companies because of racism and won! Who in their right mind would hire Americans?

This is no longer about "cheap labor," Jews who run these companies are deliberately shutting young Americans, and especially young men, out of the job market. Wanna guess why?
