It was really fun while everything was still new and nothing was min-maxed yet so you could just explore and do stuff. Chinese gold farmers were fun to kill. Raids were pretty aids but were a genuine improvement from a lot of other games in terms of boss design and stuff. But the 40 player cap meant later on it became really toxic trying to stay competitive in gear without joining a soulless mega-guild (I had to pay one to get taken on a raid to get my weapon). World PvP was great, but also meaningless and at the end of the day you always have 80% of the population who wants to live in entirely safe spaces and 20% who want to rampage and kill everything. I think BDO sort of came up with a system that worked pretty well for world PVP, but I wish they had incentivized killing players somehow without making it hurt the loser much or something so that both sides of this dynamic would enjoy the experience, because WoW's world PVP was its best form of PVP and the others all sucked. Another problem was that instanced dungeons meant you couldn't raid other guilds because they were always in safe spaces so the world eventually felt dead.

Another fun thing was getting a noob to use their hearthstone and then warlock summoning them to one of those spikes outside Netherstorm, or those towers in Hellfire Peninsula so they had to wait an hour to get back home or die and spirit rez. Also dragging those big robot things in hellfire peninsula all around to get people killed was fun as hell. Guild fell apart towards the end of TBC post-Sunwell. I don’t know where they started chasing the hardcore ultra sweat raids because I didn’t play the game that long but raids now are super try hard and difficult. I think back them when they were only hard because nobody knew what they were doing was much better, but it’s not a format that could work today because players in general are tryhard now. Back when I played if you read a guide for your class you were among the best players. Now if you don’t read all the guides for all classes and watch a bunch of videos you’re bottom of the barrel.
