What exactly does he mean by that? Yes ofc, if there's a jewish kid being chased down by some thugs, I'll help. But nowhere does catholic doctrine say that jews deserve special protection compared to other people. It does say that the God being worshipped in judaism and Christianity is the same God, but not every gentically jewish person is religious and follows Judaic teachings to begin with. It clearly says that those following judaism live in schism, the same as muslims and anyone following any of the protestant denominations. If he tries to claim that catholicism teaches that jews are the "chosen people" by virtue of jewish genetics or judaic faith, he clearly has no idea about what the catechism actually says. The bible tells us that jews get judged based on their behavior, the exact same as everyone else.
