What's with the massive discrepancy between gas and diesel prices? It used to be less than a dollar and now it's huge. Don't you get just as much diesel as you do gasoline when you break down oil? Is this evidence of price gouging??
>>
Lemme break it down for you:
>Russia is the second largest oil refiner in the world
>for months Ukraine has been targeting oil refineries in Russia with drone attacks
>the yiddish news media is deliberately hiding the fact that the Russia-Ukraine war has more to do with the high price of diesel, especially in Europe, than the Strait of Hormuz closure because wars are about politics, not freedom or democracy or any of the other nonsense they're spouting.
>>
>>543360223
Why diesel and not gas? Gas prices are pretty normal still.
>>
>>543360284
bump, I don't quite understand how that discrepancy works either.
>>
>>543360284
Diesel requires more processing and refining than other petroleum products, and not that many countries possess the infrastructure and facilities to mass-produce, store, and ship large quantities of diesel everywhere.
>>
>>543359969
Diesel is taxed several dollars per gallon.

Gas tax is like $0.80/gal. Diesel is taxed $3/gal.
>>
>>543359969
think of how crazy it is that gas prices under biden started rising without any conflict with iran.
they were entirely self-inflicted.
that fucking blows my mind.
fortunately, after iran realizes that there is no path to victory for them, gas prices will return to normal.
>>
>>543360794
>Diesel requires more processing and refining than other petroleum products,
???
it's just heavy.
there's nothing special about it.
you put in oil.
you heat it up.
you remove the different fractions.
kerosine at the top.
gasoline's a little further down.
diesel a little lower, still.
simple as.

>Don't you get just as much diesel as you do gasoline when you break down oil?
Actually no. Oil comes in kinds based on the percentage breakdown of the different fluids. American oil since 2012 is specifically almost all gas, almost no diesel, because the high diesel oil doesn't frack very well.
>>
>>543359969
>prices when he left office
Dishonest image. At least show Biden's highest prices for comparison.
Before you call me a migger shill, yes, gas prices under Trump have unarguably surpassed Biden's peak numbers. But at least paint the full picture and show that Biden's prices, even if lower, were a disaster as well.

>waaah
>i don't like reality
do you think gas prices will remain this high like a retard?
because, they obviously won't.
so, what does that mean?
do you think they'll go up after the conflict ends or down?
it means they'll lower.
the fact that you don't like that is irrelevant.

They’ll get higher when the reserves run out
>>
>>543360682
From what I recall it takes extra steps to make diesel and even more steps to make jet fuel. When you have a shortage like we do in the world today we have to prioritize. The Ships and jets take priority over the trucks that transport goods.
>>
>>543361538
Then what becomes of the stuff that isn't refined into diesel in that case?
>>

>They’ll get higher when the reserves run out
have the reserves run out?
>no
okay then...
you'll be a wagon when you get wheels.

>From what I recall it takes extra steps to make diesel and even more steps to make jet fuel.
nope.
it's just fractional distilling.
you take oil that you pull out of the ground, heat it up in a column, and the specific gravities of the stuff you want make it naturally separate.
>>
>>543359969
So sick of disingenuous fucks like you OP.

>>
>>543360284
Russia can't have refineries. Reason: Biden's war in Ukraine.
>>
>>543361022
Well, you're talking about production via fractional distillation, when most of the big refineries are relying on catalytic cracking to produce the bulk of the world's diesel fuel.
But, I guess, it would be "different" rather than "more" processing for diesel, since you need to remove more shit from it like sulfur, nitrogen, lead and zinc so that it's not as damaging to engines.
Diesel needs to have way more shit removed from it
>>
>>543360223
>It's just a weird coincidence that the war which has been going on since 2022 only started having an effect on diesel process once trump caused the strait to close
>>
>>543361955
that's the price when biden left office, and that's the price of gas now, so sick of migger kike fucks like you

You can't put straight crude in your tank, dumbass. It needs to be refined in a REFINERY yeah, those REFINERIES the Ukrainians and Houties have been bombing the shit out of for quite some time now.

You guys are dumb.

Trump is telling us to buy the DIP!!!
giving his voters a one time opportunity to get paid for voting for him!
If you are this stupid and don't buy diesel stocks now to sell at stop loss later you deserve to be poor.

Reminder Trump is not a warmonger like bush, he's a financebro and stocksbro who routinely posts on /biz/

You're a pajeet. Trump isn't telling you shit, you deluded fecaloid.
>>
>>543359969
>Don't you get just as much diesel as you do gasoline when you break down oil
No. Modern refineries use complex cracking and reforming units that generate significant alterations to the output ratio of gasoline to diesel compared with simple refining. A lot of the pricing is cooked in by speculation and futures contracts, the immediate market supply/demand, and even the season depending on where you live. Heavier long chain hydrocarbons are more valuable.
>>
The oil that comes out of the persian gulf is high quality and easy to refine into diesel. Ditto on russian oil. North american oil is pretty much canadian tarsands and US shale oil. Tarsands is expensive to extract and refine. US shale is light oil and really is only good for making gasoline.
