My dad was one of the wealthiest men in my area. Had an extremely stressful job, started drinking a lot. Low IQ mentally unstable mom divorced him, got the house. Apparently during divorce negotiations he only asked for me to visit him a couple of hours every two weeks. Vague memories of my uncle driving me to a parking lot where I switched cars, then watched sports with my dad for a couple of hours before going home. I used to hate him, but now it's indifference which I guess is worse than hate. It's taken me so long to toughen up and not to be too nice, especially around women. I don't really understand it. If I had a kid, especially a son, especially a son who was a lot like me as I was with him, I think at the very least I'd make it clear that I would be there for him. Kind of fucked me up not to have that, but also helped me realize I'm alone on this earth.
