Highest rate in 25 years. Of course there wasn't 40 trillion in debt 25 years ago.

what do other countries bond yields look like?

Im guessing theyre holding out for midterms before they crash it. AIPAC needs their war to go on

Collapse into a financial default, Moshe. Better hurry up and tie all the loose ends with your neighboring countries because uncle Sam and most of Europe won't be able to pay off their human drones to fight your wars.

5% per year is kind of shit, gimme 7% and we have a deal.
>>
>>543418679
Yeah... I'll tell ya...
So on average the stock market makes approx 7 percent growth a year on an individuals portfolio...
If the 10 yr yield gets near 7... well the average investor will dump all stocks and jump into bond. A safe 6-7 percent looks tasty to investors than a risky 7 percent....and if its a 10 yr bond. They can hold for 10 years.
>>
Basically, if everyone jumps to bonds... the stock market is kill

Trump never claimed he'd make things more affordable, in fact "Affordability" is a demoncrat buzz-word. Just like he never said he'd park our military in another long-running Middle East conflict. You all remember wrong. High prices don't bother Trump, he's made. Lower house/mortgage rates would upset him in fact.

(This is what the GOP has to run with in November).

What causes this is Pensions, Endowments, Insurance companies and other mass-scale collective investors seeking steady returns. It's not people with 401k's seeking this out (unless they have someone actively managing it for them).
>>
The oft repeated idea that bonds are "low risk" investments has been a huge mistake. The consequence is unrealized risk, which when realized, does immense damage. The lie was told to create bag holders, and bond owners are the losing game player

Not when it's mortgage rates, or your credit card interest rate. And America has a ton of outstanding debt on the old credit card.

America has never once defaulted on it's debt. So it remains the safest investment until the day that it does. We aren't talking corporate bonds, which have varying amounts of safety, and thus pay varying amounts of interest.

Default on gold debt owed to U.S. public, default on silver debt owed to U.S. public, default on international gold debt, and I'm missing several others but you should get the idea by now.

There's a major event on the horizon. Global debt market is on brink of collapse, I predicted it would be prior to Nov 2024 U.S. election but here we still are.
Global debt market has been more unstable and volatile in the past four years than in half a century. Bond yields aren't supposed to whipsaw up-down like crypto or stocks; bonds need to remain steady, stable predictable and reliable particularly in the global debt-based economic model that is backed by actually fr nothing else.
>>
>>543418744
Bond yields are rising for all major economies. The only exception is China.

This. The reason no one wants treasuries is they're putting all their money in stocks and crypto instead
>>
>>543418778
the free market is keeping it from rising too high so far. if inflation stays hot, it will continue to rise. i'm not saying it won't rug the economy just if you think it's going to immediately soar to 12%, you may be dreaming just like when people thought silver was going to $1000. i would be funny if were wrong but nothing ever happens.
>>
>>543420009

This is true Ameribro, until it isn't. It is getting mathematically impossible to continue.

You bring in $5T in taxes each year. But, you have been spending $7T - interest on the national debt, defense, social security, medicare and medicaid. This worked because as you said, US Debt is rock solid. So, you would borrow $2T each year.

Now, the world bond markets are signaling that US Debt is risky. They want more yield to buy it. Worse, many countries are selling off the US Debt. So, the likelihood of being able to borrow another $2T is all but impossible going forward. Even if the world would grant you credit, you are going to get pounded by the interest. A simple $40T @ 5% is $2T in interest only. That interest next year will be bigger than the second and third largest budget items together. I would guess if this is the path, you see the 30yr bond settle at 6-7%. You are talking about $3T in interest before Trump leaves office.

It would seem defaulting would make sense, but only $9.5T is owed to foreign countries. The majority is Americans, American companies, mutual funds, social security sovereign fund, etc.

It is really bad and is something to pay attention to.

Don't joke, that is what is going to happen. The USD$ will then go on the rollercoaster ride to hyperinflation. The good part is you debt is getting less expensive as your dollar disintegrates. The bad news is, it is the world currency.
