Every business that sells anything in a package has to calculate the "Life Cycle" of everything that goes into that package. Literally every bit of energy expended from it being dug out of the ground, shipped to the plant where it's processed, the energy in processing it into a package and then shipped to that package being filled with it's contents and then shipped to a vendor. Every single box, bottle, plastic container etc has to have this life cycle analysis performed for it, so it's environmental impact per unit can be calculated. If the impact per unit is over some amount then the government applies an environmental tax onto it, over and above whatever other taxes go on it. Naturally companies want to save money so they're paying for life cycle analysis being performed on all their packaging.t. Friend does life cycle analysis for multiple companies
