Good evening, gentlemen of culture. Let me sum up what basically just happened in Spain and plenty of people, even from here, missed.

Some grandma got evicted from her home because she had a lifetime contract with tiny rent from Franco's fascist regime, but democratic governments abolished those. The masses got into one of those frenzies they sometimes get from news stories, even though this happens to millenials all the time.

The public is in a frenzy and angry at the government for housing prices, and the government is about to pass a law to "fix" the problem.

One of their measures was to make it easier for businesses to build homes, which they want to do due to the high prices, and basically make the needed mountains of paperwork and permits less bad. However, this law has to be negotiated, and the woke type commies did NOT like the idea of more homes in the market. That part won't be added because it's a red line for them.

A bunch of woke commies who agree with that and also support mass immigration are doing a big protest camping site in the center of Madrid, in order to demand that everyone can have an affordable home, and they're singing songs there etc.

The right vs left debate on this right now is
>conservative take: landlords worked hard and it wouldnt be fair to them to allow other people to build homes in their own empty land
>leftist take: under no circumstances should there be more homes in the market. they'll allow that over my dead body. we should instead pass laws and prohibitions until everyone has an affordable home
Another sad fact regarding this, which normies missed, is that tax collectors are making it harder and harder to have money that's not accounted for or use cash a lot, which makes bribes harder, and thus reduces home building permits and ironically makes this worse.

Just how comically retarded is everyone in this country kek.

reminder that spain paid for the world cup win and framed argentina for it
>>
>>543442799
dont care about normie sports ngl
>>
>>543442648
tl;dr you are a zionazi
>>
>>543442870
you're such a stupid NPC, how did you even get that idea
>>
>>543442648
>we should instead pass laws and prohibitions until everyone has an affordable home
kek here the populist left freezed rent prices, the effect was that everyone stopped building because it wasnt profitable
>>
>>543443021
kek at least people already renting will be fine

but zoomers are FUCKED
>>
spain has too much communism in his people. When I daydream about saving Europe, I never daydream about saving spain, not without quarantining it for 80 years at least.
>>
>>543443285
its not exactly communism. north korea is poor and they're still building homes FAST. access to housing is not a problem that they have.

its woke type communism. the kind of communism whose supporters absolutely refuse to have more available homes so everyone can have one, and will camp in the city center, sing songs, and hold up signs supporting africans and faggots

>I never daydream about saving spain, not without quarantining it for 80 years at least
all of europe is like this, germans are the biggest commies, and their cultural influence is a big part of this problem
>>
>example of why Spain is the most cucked nation on earth
>Isnt the La Manada rape hoax (gangbang fully filmed)
>>
>>543443767
the La Manada meme was just a case that was peddled by the media because it was a group of spanish guys and one of them was a cop

the girl was also into it

meanwhile in a ceuta muslim camp they raped a girl who must've been screaming the entire time and no one present did anything about it (interviewed muslims say women who get raped are just whores)
>>
>>543442648
>Just how comically retarded is everyone in this country kek.
Well we literally just saw that in Ceuta, going full retard by trying to offload Spanish-government blame to their preferred scapegoats in an exceedingly obvious way.
>>
>>543443526
I don't know, up until Milei got into the scene, every time I heard someone speak spanish (or portuguese) it was either crime or communism.
That's something that doesn't happen with other people.
>>
>>543444002
I'm not even paying attention to the Ceuta meme, idk why its supposed to be so important. I think the extra muslims in Ceuta or even if they make it to the mainland, are like throwing a bit of trash in a landfill.

What happened?
>>
>>543444108
Spain was until recently governed by a fascist ruler, Francisco Franco, the "Caudillo" or "GeneralĂsimo", which lasted until the 70s by not getting involved in the world war.

Spain was based back then and it's not all lost.
>>
the poet did write

with usura hath no man a house of good stone
these hippie/bums are screaming out the top of their lungs for rent control
the housing situation is bad

but rent control is such a non solution it just makes you want facepalm
>>
>>543444189
fascism is communism dressed in black.
Franco did all the commie crap like setting prices, abolishing the use of private property while leaving the liabilities, etc
You come from a commie culture so it's difficult for you to understand the difference. It's the same for us italians, especially today, so don't feel too bad. But you need to study more because you're still got the commie framework guiding your knowledge and reasoning skills.
>>
>>543444234
honestly i think anything there's an imposed monopoly on NEEDS price controls as the lesser evil than the same situation but with no price controls
>>
>>543444476
ok but Spain didn't have this problem with Franco.

you can argue fascism does not have good economic policies, and admittedly that would be a reasonable point to make, but democracy is definitely so much worse.

fascism unironically has similar ideas to communism but its much much better culturally and in terms of economic planning. and it also has nothing to do with woke communism, which isn't the same as the communism in the soviet union or north korea.
>>
>>543444600
it will fix nothing

the real problem is usury

if people make the same salary now as they did in 2000 and house prices have tripled it is clear that debt is the reason

capping rent is like putting a bandaid on a broken leg
>>
>>543443021
>the effect was that everyone stopped building because it wasnt profitable
Still isn't, renting in Argentina is easy in the 10 top worst business you could do in Argentina, only worth looking if you inherited, but building for renting is straight up waste money
>>
>>543444767
wait i've never seen this take. im not saying you're wrong. but how is debt the reason? how does debt translate to housing prices?
>>
>>543445014
hello hello eath calling

no but seriously

the whole system runs on debt
the government is in debt
the corporations are in debt
households are in debt
individuals are in debt

furthermore all money we use nowadays is debt money
scenario a: people work a 40k a year job, save for three years, funds available for house purchase 120k

scenario b: people work a 40k a year job, save for three years, then go beg the bankerman for moneys, funds available for house purchase 500k
now do this by 10 million people, if no one can bid more than 120k no house will sell for more

if everyone can bid 500k no house will sell for less

*obviously simplified model
>>
>>543445318
>hello hello eath calling
yeah I don't even watch tv or really check normie social media. im proud of that

this unironically makes sense btw BUT mind you, without mortgages, there would be increased inequality in terms of who can afford a home, and also landlords and investors wuold have to be barred from buying homes, which would change how society works due to no rentals.
>>
>>543446101
right lets take it slower

first there is the issue of money creation,

when money was solid silver an american cowboy was paid 1 dollar a day, so about 350 dollars a year, and houses could be bought for 1000 dollars

when money is debt paper, an american cowboy is paid 40000 dollars a year, and house can be bought for 400000 dollars

so right there is the first thing, paper debt money is bad money, it looses value constantly

in the old world you could get a mortgage with half a year salary or save for three years, so really i dont see the inequality there

in the world of now institutional investors can secure multimillionaire loans and buy up existing real estate, which does create great amounts of inequality

the reason they can do this is that money is now debt paper, and can be created freely and at any chosen amount, it is no more costly to create a fresh 10 dollar than a fresh 10 trillion dollars

in the old world money had to be mined and minted, which is costly

mortgages were almost non existent then, and they are the norm now, and this is precisely the issue

you cannot compete in the housing market with savings against a person with a mortgage, so then everyone gets a mortgage, so then the house price equals the latgest amount a couple working full time for their whole lives can afford to borrow which right now is at about 500k more or less

previously in your great grandfathers and even granfathers generation the house price equals the amount a man can save over a three to five year period
>>
>>543442648
Thats crazy, return the gold tho how about that?
>>
>>543443285
Sometimes i day dream about Spain returning all the gold it stole, we should return all the gold to South Americe instead of arguing about rent.
>>
>>543446723
>so right there is the first thing, paper debt money is bad money, it looses value constantly
100% agree

>in the old world you could get a mortgage with half a year salary or save for three years, so really i dont see the inequality there
this could change depending on supply and demand

even though in the old world the market price was three years worth of average wage, surely some people could afford more. for example, let's say exactly half the people buying a home could potentially afford up to 6. if there were half as many homes in the market, they'd then sell for 6, not 3

>so really i dont see the inequality there
of course things people need being in abundant supply reduces inequality

>mortgages were almost non existent then, and they are the norm now, and this is precisely the issue
you're absolutely right here. money printing is definitely a problem and is inflating prices. however, i wouldn't say it's the root of the problem, for the same reason that people don't take a 100k euro mortgage to buy a car: cars are in higher supply.

>you cannot compete in the housing market with savings against a person with a mortgage, so then everyone gets a mortgage, so then the house price equals the latgest amount a couple working full time for their whole lives can afford to borrow which right now is at about 500k more or less
this would be an incredibly sharp observation for a normie, so i assume you're not a normie and higher IQ than most. it also makes total sense, dont get me wrong. i am not disagreeing with you, just bringing up some nuance.

>>543447371
no
>>
>>543447558
not only should spain not return any gold, but in fact, it should take all the territory back

not being a part of spain is what turned hispanic america into latin america aka a dump
>>
>>543447803
Thats great friend. Have fun with your crumbling economy, return the gold tho.
>>
>>543447886
>Have fun with your crumbling economy
oh we are
>return the gold tho
no
>>
>>543447739
this is essentially correct

as i said in my first post though
the poet did write

with usura hath no man a house of good stone

(see ezra pound canto XLV)

youre alright in my book fella , just know the issue is the debt money system itself and not the smallholder landlord
>>
>>543443526
north korea isn’t communist though
