Employers always valued hard working employees.
Employees always valued a living wage.
Hard work used to mean a living wage as compensation.
Thus the two were often conflated.
Now that hard work no longer means a living wage, there is ZERO incentive to break your back for a soulcrushing job.
As a result, most people are abandoning the workforce whenever possible.

eh i think people's executive skills have tanked after gaining devices that allow you to get fun without any executive skills
but yeah what you said is 90% the culprit

I recently quit dashing. It was my fourth delivery. I was to deliver to 'faglord' on 69 underhill lane. I obviously thought this was a joke and took my time.
When I got their the first thing I noticed was that the house was way too short. Only 4 ft to the gutters, at most. The next thing I picked up on was the car, which appeared to be an oscar meyer weinermobile. I walked up the unnecessary winding path that covered most of the yard and bent over to knock at the door; I thought just kicking it would be rude.
"Commmmaiiing!"
I heard a weird thumping approach the door, like a drunk donkey trying to gallop. It swung open so fast I had to step back.
There at the door was a completely hairless naked man. His ankles were bound to his thighs by what must have been full spools of rope.
"Well come on in silly boy" he said as he winked to me, hopping and rotating 180 degrees and plopping away.
"mmmmm doggy hungry, please fill doggy's bowl" he said while motioning to a silver dog bowl next to a sink plumbed right into the floor.
He then grabbed a pack of cigarettes from the ground and said "want one hun?" I nervously shook my head.
He pulled one out and lit it up. I was about to dump the food in his bowl when I heard a squelching sound.
I turned to see his asshole prolapsing. In horror, I watched as he stuck the cigarette in the hole and then pull it back into a tight, pink sphincter, like he was a 10 year old boy or some shit. The end of the cigarette lit up and burned down. He exhaled and a stream of smoke came out of his cock like he was taking a piss.
His voice suddenly got deeper. "ooooohhh fuck yeah"
I booked it as he cackled like a clown behind me. I deleted the app when I got home after pushing 100.
If that's what employment is in this country I'm neeting it up until I die. No thanks.

You can value a person without having empathy for them or any decency at all.

More like getting a decent job has become an extemely opaque and confusing process. If you took your average scrollbrained zoomoid and handed them a checklist that detailed exactly what combination of degree + internships + certifications + what you're supposed to say in the interview + how you're supposed to construct your CV most of them would probably be pefectly capable of it, but when it's just an open ended choose your own adventure where there are a million ways to put thousands of hours of work in and get basically nothing out of it because you weren't aware that you had to do the equivalent of inputting the Konami code at step 37b and nobody actually explains this they get understandably frustrated and demoralized. Add on top of that various layers of explicit or covert DEI, fake job postings, firms that de facto only want to hire cheaper foreign workers, etc. and the result is an enormous waste of a huge swathe of your pool of perfectly capable labor that der liberal will just smugly pajeet head bobble at and tut that they're "too lazy"

Yeah I think this is another consequence of information technology
IT allows the tempo of work to be massively sped up, revealing a large discrepancy in administrative skill, resilience, energy etc. The more competent are setting the pace, causing the rest to stumble.

In software there are 10x programmers - someone who's output a person who is able to output 10x more than other people. This is because software is so detached from the physical world that the full strength of the human mind can be fully utilised. I think general administration is perhaps also approaching this kind of streamlining. That is to say, perhaps IT has created 10x administrators, job hunters etc.

>apply for incredibly shitty job
>5 week temp job
>pays 20/hr, 50-60 hours a week so "technically" up to 1500
>look at stock portfolio
>if /biz/ wasn't totally worthless, I could have made 4000 bucks just this week swinging tech, crypto and oil
You always need to be earning money, then getting that money to work for you, then getting a master's in something like engineering to get a Real Job again since mine was apparently given to DEI niggers, but damn if you don't feel like a chump missing the 2021 bullrun.

it's not that difficult, I'm not breaking my back to eat poisonous food in my little box and no pussy, if the business owners can't accept that, then they can hire all brown people that won't buy their products anyway because they live 20 per house and send most their money back home, get fucked greedy shitbags.

I think any situation where you think you've devised a clever way to only hire indefatigable geniuses will mostly end up selecting for bullshit artists

I don't mean to say that these companies are aiming to get 10x adminstrators. Whether you are good at administration is probably pretty unrelated to how good of an engineer you are or smth. I'm saying the modern hiring process is caused by the job hunters.
IT allows people to apply to every job in the local area. The companies thus become more stringent in their hiring process. The latent 3x-10x administrators still manage to flood the system. The companies adjust the system yet again to accommodate these superadministrators, thus making a system that is a lot tougher for normal people.

This is all unevidenced conjecture.

It's an arms race (of bullshitting). They make the posting not stringent enough, they get a trillion applications, they make it more stringent, that narrows it down but then the bullshitters just start adapting to that and the number creeps up again, on and on in a spiral until you reach the theoretical singularity of hiring managers and bullshitters deploying dueling agentic AI swarms demanding and claiming they are respectively an applicant with 4 million hours of experience in 100,000 different fields simultaneously. Meanwhile Norman Normalfag from down the road with a 110 IQ and a willingness to put in an honest day's work for an honest day's pay, who's perfectly capable of doing the job, gets thrown by the wayside
