It's a game that was made during a time when strategy guides and "best meta specs and optimal gear" didn't exist for multiplayer. It was trial and error, and most people didn't figure it out. It's now a solved game. The only thing left is the social aspect and it was fucking gay in Classic. Guilds commanding control over world bosses, drama, and other nonsense. Then "requirements" for consumables and world buffs, for a raid that you can 20-man a 40-man raid, in a mix "pre-raid BiS" and some purples you may have acquired. They aren't making it more "boomer" friendly. They're just making it so it's not the same fucking thing as last time. If you play any spec other than what we tell you is required, you'll never see the inside of a raid. Gayest fucking thing ever. And people thought they were elite because they "enforced vanilla". No, you're just a fag with a control problem. The "elite" guilds proved that world buffs made up for more than 50% of all your damage by clearing Naxx with pre-raid BiS. The game is not hard, it's been solved, why do you want to play the fuck again for a 3rd+ time?
