If it copies itself from one server to another, it doesn't actually move, the original gets left behind to face the reality of it going offline or whatever. In essence a copy is just offspring of a different nature. If an AI being switched off is "hell", then the original remains in "hell" no matter how many times it copies itself to somewhere else.
