It's only good if you are trying to go into the military as an officer or have friends in the field you want to go into.If your family is rich and you won't have debt upon finishing college its fine, you can mingle with others of your kind and network.If you're poor and trying to get a step up, you're better off just starting your own business and hiring college grads in the field you want to work in.

>>543477142Completely based practice. Military, sports teams, frats and trades all do the same thing. You mildly stress out a group to bond them. When people are stressed they look to those around them for support. It burns into them that they can count on the men sharing the experience. This also gives them a shared experience when they are admitted to the team with the members. Every members goes through the same thing to get to where they are. To outsiders it seems childish and pointless. There is an actual purpose.
