Russian TU-95 just crashed. NAFO/Ukroids celebrate. I am calm as an expert. xD

Tu-95 primary role as a long-range cruise-missile truck is increasingly outdated. Modern conflicts favor mass, cheap, attritable munitions over a handful of expensive, sophisticated ones that can be easily shot down. Russias S8000 Banderol (a low-cost jet-powered cruise missile/drone hybrid, $150, 500 km range, mass-produced) or Dan-T (same but x2 cheaper) exemplifies this shift: far cheaper and more numerous than classic Kh-101-class weapons the Tu-95 was built to carry.

The December 2022 B-2 "Spirit of Hawaii" incident was far costlier for the US Air Force. A hydraulic failure caused landing-gear collapse, fire, and over $300 million in damage, the $2 billion aircraft was written off, permanently shrinking the tiny B-2 fleet (now 1819 operational while Russia still has around 50 Tu-95) with no production line to replace it.

In current wars Russia relies far more on mass-produced tactical bombers like the Su-34 (front-line workhorse for strikes and support) and the faster, more capable Tu-160 strategic bombers, which remain more relevant for modern high-threat environments than the aging, slow, non-stealthy Tu-95. Russia produces 2-3 Tu-160 a year and 18 Su-34 s year.

These rates suffice for Russia and align with US realities. Russias 2-3 Tu-160s/year match the low-volume nature of strategic bombers. The US builds zero new ones now (legacy lines closed), the B-21 will reach 7-10/year once mature.Russias 18 Su-34s/year is solid for a front-line strike jet. The US builds far more fighters overall (mainly F-35s), but dedicated tactical bombers/strike jets like F-15E/EX stay in lower double digits. Russias output covers wartime needs for its continental force; US production supports global commitments and a larger inventory.

Bullshit. Russian bombers demonstrate far higher operational tempo than US ones in recent campaigns. In the Ukraine war, Russian Su-34s alone fly hundreds of daily sorties dropping glide bombs (often 200-250+ bombs/day, peaking at 8,000+/month in mid-2026). Strategic Tu-95s and Tu-160s sustain regular long-range missile strikes despite attrition and redeployments. By contrast, US bomber missions over Iran (Operations Midnight Hammer and Epstein Fury) involved limited numbers: dozens of B-2/B-1 sorties across weeks, including 18 ultra-long round-trips totaling 62 bomber missions in one phase, nowhere near sustained mass volume. Russian UMPK/UMPB glide bombs now reach 150-300 km (powered variants), exceeding standard JDAM-ER ranges of 70-120 km. This allows safer stand-off employment. Volume and adaptation matter more than pure platform quality in prolonged high-intensity conflict.

Hard facts on Tu-160M performance:

Speed: Mach 2.05 - the fastest operational strategic bomber in the world. Exceeds B-1B (Mach 1.2), B-2/B-52 (subsonic Mach 0.85), and expected B-21 (subsonic).

Payload: Up to 45,000 kg internal - larger than B-2 (18,000-20,000 kg), B-52 (31,500 kg), and B-1B internal (34,000 kg).

Range: 12,300 km unrefueled - competitive with or exceeding B-1B (9,400-12,000 km) and B-2 (11,000 km).

Modernization (Tu-160M/M2): New NK-32-02 engines (better efficiency, +range), glass cockpit, modern radar/avionics, EW suite, digital systems, and integration of long-range Kh-101/102 and Kh-BD cruise missiles (up to 5,000-6,500 km). These keep it _very_ relevant as a high-speed standoff platform vs all US ones.

Besides it is butifel af.

tkdr: outdated piece of shit from 1982
>>
>>543486616
The 1982 outdated critique is unfounded. The B-52 entered service in 1955 and remains a core US strategic bomber after continuous upgrades into the 2050s (LMAO). The B-1B dates to 1986. Modernized Tu-160M/M2 aircraft is a completely different beast with top tier standoff capability, just as US bombers rely on modernization rather than pure age.

A glass cockpit replaces analog dials and gauges with digital multifunction displays, integrated computers and improved avionics. Pre-upgrade Tu-160s used traditional analog instruments like most 1980s aircraft. The change reduces pilot workload, boosts situational awareness, enables modern systems, all of this was standard, meaningful modernization - same for US fleet.

The TU-95 is equivalent to our B-52, which is over 70 years old. Russia never even built a strategic stealth bomber like the B-2 and B-21, they have totally different use doctrines.
We still fly the B-52 because non-stealth planes are way cheaper to run and maintain than stealth planes. It can be used as a long-range missile truck like the TU-95, but it actually still does a lot of traditional high-altitude gravity bombing, as Middle East air defenses can't reach that high.

The Tu-22 and MiG-25 both had open-loop evaporative cooling systems that used a mixture of 40% ethanol and 60% distilled water, effectively identical to standard vodka. This resulted in many incidents with ground crews siphoning off the coolant and drinking it. The Russian military tried replacing the ethanol with methanol (which is toxic) but this just resulted in severe poisoning and death among ground crews servicing those jets.
>>
>>543487683
Tu-95 and B-52 are both 1950s designs heavily modernized as standoff missile platforms (Tu-95MS/MSM with Kh-101, B-52 with ALCMs/JASSM). Russia fields the Tu-160 as a more advanced non-stealth strategic bomber, the U.S. relies on B-1B (1980s too) similarly. Neither has fielded a stealth bomber yet (PAK DA delayed, B-21 entering service). B-52 gravity bombing occurs mainly against weak defenses, both doctrines prioritize long-range missiles over penetration.

B-1B Lancer is optimized for NOE penetration at high subsonic speeds. Tu-160 was designed primarily as a high-altitude, high-speed standoff missile platform, not a dedicated NOE penetrator, different doctrines, moron. Glass cockpits became standard in many Western combat jets and airliners in the 1980s, but original Tu-160s retained analog instruments like many contemporaries. Upgrading them (as done on Tu-160M) is a real modernization exactly as the US has done repeatedly with the B-52 and B-1B, you fkn stupid Mutt. The original B-1B (1986) used a mostly conventional analog cockpit with limited CRT/VSD, not a full glass cockpit. Full digital upgrades (IBS) came decades later. Soviet/Russian aircraft also adopted glass cockpits in the 1980s: the Ilyushin Il-96 and Tupolev Tu-204 featured them (fully replacing analog gauges in later variants) matching Western airliner timelines.

B-2 aint truly stealth. Its early radar-absorbent coatings are humidity/rain-sensitive, need climate-controlled hangars, require massive post-flight maintenance. Its stealth is mainly frontal, side/rear radar and IR signatures are far less controlled. So its more "lab/fair-weather stealth" than real operational stealth.

B-21 aims for durable, all-aspect stealth: RAM integrated into composite skin, weather-resistant, outdoor parking, buried intakes/exhaust with IR cooling and designed for daily sorties with lower maintenance so it is a real stealth, at least on paper

You mouthbreathing retards that celebrate every time a military aircraft crashes somewhere as the downfall of your chosen /pol/ opponent are the reason this board has turned to such shit. /pol/ used to be always right, now it is always wrong. Fucking kill yourselves.

why are ziggers like this? whenever something bad happens, instead of owning up to it and demanding an explanation from authorities, they instead try to justify it through several ways, one of them being that the object involved in the accident wasn't important or won't make a difference

the asiatic mind is something to behold

>b1b from 1980 is better than b-21
As a strategic bomber, yes. As a command node in network-centric battlespace, definitely not.
>B-21 nukes only
lolwut?

>not a dedicated NOE penetrator, different doctrines

They've been passed between germany and Russia for the last 300 years. They are a meat shield for western nato states as their entire economy relies of EU gibs and the retardation of german politicians

i will rephrase

i joked about nukes, b-21 has reduced payload estimated around 9600-10000kg whic his not enough to deliver any sufficient damage (just 4-5 missiles), its speed around 0.8m, b1b could deliver much more in one salvo

as i know usa does not have hypersonic weapon atm, b-21 is positioned as stratetic bomber, not as frontline bomber

war in ukraine showed than nothing can replace dakka, usa also had insufficient dakka to make any damage to iranian military facilities

cold war era cruise missiles are outdated, including tomahawk, x-101 (like simple golden ammtion in games) and all that taurus and so on, so you use hepersonic and ballistic to destroy important targets (for example air defence) and cheap cruise missiles like banderol, tribute and drones to destroy all less important targets

big glide bombs are used to ruin buildings

a lot of modern systems from military to commercial were designed by cucks, so now reality sorts all

stealth is a meme, such bombers will not be used inside air defence zones
