The aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman is slated to undergo a massive overhaul designed to prepare the hulking vessel for the second half of its service life.

The Pentagon on Tuesday announced a $5.1 billion fixed-ceiling incentive contract with HII to complete the carrier’s mid-life overhaul at Virginia’s Newport News Shipbuilding.

The refueling and complex overhaul, or RCOH, comprises approximately one-third of the maintenance and modernization a carrier will undergo during its service life, according to the announcement.

The RCOH process on Truman will “include refueling the ship’s reactors, as well as extensive modernization work in thousands of compartments and tanks, as well as on most ship systems,” a HII release stated. “In addition, major upgrades will be made in the propulsion plant and combat systems.”

Truman’s overhaul notice comes a little over a year after the carrier completed a 251-day deployment that saw the vessel fire over 1.1 million pounds of ordnance and unleash the largest carrier-launched airstrike in history.

overhaul is expected to be completed by November 2031.

>>543545740
In February 2025, the ship collided with the merchant vessel Besiktas-M near Port Said, Egypt. The ship’s commanding officer Capt. Dave Snowden was subsequently relieved due to a loss of confidence in his ability to command.

Truman also lost a trio of F/A-18 Super Hornets during the deployment. One was shot down by the guided-missile cruiser USS Gettysburg in a friendly-fire incident. Another experienced a failed arrested landing and went overboard. A third slipped off the hangar deck as a result of evasive maneuvers in response to an incoming ballistic missile and fell into the Red Sea.

Homeported at Naval Station Norfolk, Truman will be the eighth Nimitz-class carrier to complete its mid-life RCOH in Newport News.

“Our team has been diligently working to get ahead on this critical engineering and construction project that will prepare USS Harry S. Truman for the second half of her service life,” Bryan Caccavale, the Newport News Shipbuilding vice president of program management, said in a release. “When the ship arrives at NNS, we’ll apply that same diligence to working with our suppliers and Navy partners to ensure a successful recapitalization of CVN 75.”

The announcement did not specify when work on the carrier would begin, but noted that the overhaul is expected to be completed by November 2031.

>Yusuf Koseoglu, a retired architect living in Ankara, told Xinhua that the increases were already affecting households and the wider economy.
>"The increases are already affecting us, and we don't know what will happen next," Koseoglu said. "At the moment, it is impossible to live on a pension in Turkey. I live on my savings."
>"There is a direct impact on inflation. A one-lira increase in the price of oil affects everything -- food, drink, transportation. We depend on it for everything," he said.
>For some households, higher fuel costs have prompted changes in daily travel habits. The cost of filling a tank has made regular private-car use increasingly difficult, prompting some to limit journeys, use company shuttles or turn to public transportation.
>Hilal Onat, a teacher, said that although she owned a car, she had stopped using it to commute whenever possible.
>"I drive a car, but now I use the company shuttle whenever possible when going to work because fuel prices have risen so much," she told Xinhua.
>Istanbul-based economist Mustafa Sonmez warned that the impact of higher fuel prices extended across the economy.
>"People are wondering how they will afford heating fuel for winter and how to cope with higher transportation costs. Fuel prices affect the whole of the economy and will lead to price increases in most goods and services," Sonmez told Xinhua, warning that this would deepen Turkey’s cost-of-living squeeze.
Ottoman empire rises again.

"Attack on a father with a child": Two 20-year-olds attacked a man simply because he asked them to be quiet with their motorcycle. An unusual incident occurred in Shoham today: A father with a child asked young residents of the area to stop making noise with their motorcycle because there were elderly people nearby. He was then subjected to severe violence, first being spat on, and then attacked with punches and a helmet to the head.

>BREAKING: Iran appears to have struck ADNOC's Bu Hasa facility southwest of Abu Dhabi, one of the UAE's largest onshore oil and gas fields. Sentinel-3 imagery from today shows a black smoke plume roughly 50 km long over the site.
>NASA FIRMS recorded a fire radiative power of 143 megawatts at the facility, with the VIIRS mid-infrared channel reading 367 Kelvin, the absolute ceiling the sensor can register, meaning the fire is likely hotter than the data shows. Flights near Abu Dhabi were disrupted earlier today.
>Bu Hasa crude feeds the Habshan-Fujairah pipeline, the UAE's only export route that bypasses the Strait of Hormuz. Saudi Arabia's East-West pipeline, its own route around Hormuz, has been struck 3 weeks ago.

happen regarding Iran.

We have almost complete control over the Strait of Hormuz.

The amount of oil that has passed through the Strait of Hormuz in the last three days is more than any other time in history.

Iran has lost 4,500 people in the war, and we will soon be victorious.

The Iranian economy is destroyed, and we will win this war against that country in any way possible.

Pentagon chief set to announce additional cuts in senior officer positions

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is set to announce a 20% cut in the number of positions for generals and admirals when he speaks with hundreds of junior service members at Quantico, Virginia, two U.S. officials told Reuters on Tuesday.

Hegseth will give a speech on Wednesday in front of hundreds of junior officers and enlisted officials, updating them on his priorities for the military.

The officials, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said Hegseth would say that he plans to cut the billets for general and flag officers by 20%. Those are one- to four-star generals and admirals. That is an increase from the minimum 10% cut Hegseth laid out last year.

Rather than firing people, one of the officials said, the rank of some future jobs would change while billets for others would be canceled.

Hegseth has moved quickly to reshape the department, firing senior officers across the military and dealing with niche personnel issues. Last year, he ordered a 20% reduction in the number of four-star officers.

Even Saudi's economic minister talked about how the oil price ticker is bullshit lol, add a 40-50$ premium and you're closer to the real price. We're not even gonna factor in how much spread there is between the raw product and the distillates. There's a reason why diesel keeps getting more expensive despite WTI staying stagnant.

Wonder how the Jeb timeline turned out

Petey has clearly never heard of the cheap-fast-good triangle. While usually applied to food, it also works with weapon manufacturing too.
>>
>>543551431
Are they trying to say that most american military bases DON'T have onsite emergency backup generators already?
>>
>>543551431

It is my firm belief that they can only kick the can so far and so long (although I am flabbergasted by their sheer ability to do so for an entire generation - since the fiber optic idiotic frenzy), but we shall see, one way or the other (and in any case, there shall be lots of suffering ahead :/).

It's almost like you jews lie for sport and pleasure all the time or something

Probably because they are trying to keep the price of oil at a certain level.

the whole idea is being two oceans apart from the entire world why would they need it anyway, I still think it’s waste for them the general american grid should get updated tho
>>
>>543551431
Inspired by iran?
>>
>>543551211
Ironically not a dumb move. Of course, the Pentagon and military contractors are corrupt as hell, charging 100x the amount for even their cheapest models, but private whiskey has the right idea on what the US should do to modernize it's army to the current battlefield era.

>Every major military installation in America is going to generate its own power, independent of the civilian grid.
this sounds more like preparation for a civil war/riots than a foreign attack
>>
>>543551586
kikes entire belief system is no joke broken down to two aspects: closeness, and "kikery" or inverting everything(truth) and anything(god).
>>
>>543551262
But then I see this

>Elon Musk, Palmer Luckey, and Newt Gingrich

And realize that whole effort to make quality and quantity is a giant grift and mutts are about to get scammed for the 67866727822709715th time
>>

>newt gingrich
holy fuck what a punchline
>>
>>543551640

Unless they are preparing for a war against their own population.

1) why didn't you do this already? even pedal power with your useless boots could do it
2) that's called covering your own ass when cutting power to citizens sick of your shit
it's a little too late to be self reliant

>Every major military installation in America is going to generate its own power, independent of the civilian grid.

Intardesting... But even then, how will they create thousands of independent grids and what will keep them powered up? Also this sounds more like a civil war, revolution or nuclear exchange preparation.

He wasn't third party, so nothing would'Ve changed even with him at the helm

I mean, you currently have a psycho who spams AI slop and who thinks cognitive tests are for geniuses at the helm, isnt that proof enough
>>
>>543551879
When you add that they are currently turning the white house into a fortress, it might make you feel scared if you are american.

Thing is, AI has to have a base to extend or merge in order to work. Meaning it has real life video of of a fat dude drinking from a jug and spilling soda and liquid spilling from truck hole
