When you “pay” tax the money doesn’t “go” anywhere, the government/state instructs your bank to delete the digits from a ledger. Taxes don’t fund anything. The government spends money into existence and if they think they’ve printed too much then they introduce “new taxes” or “raise taxes” I.e. reduce your purchasing power by jus deleting your money. It makes me laugh when I see people saying “their tax money has been spent on x y z”. Sovereign currency issuing countries (not Germany unfortunately or any other Euro country) cannot go bankrupt.
