Nazi experiments from a different timeline?The explanation that I've heard, and that I've actually liked, goes something like: Aliens have been abducting humans since sedentary agriculture was developed (so the Neolithic, think 12-10,000 years ago) as a source of cheap migrant labor. The idea is you'd abduct a breeding population of humans, dump them onto a habitable planet stargate style, and then collect tribute in the form of agricultural products and artisinal goods. Supposedly, this was incredibly successful: compared to most 'advanced' alien species humans are quite robust and adaptable, we're a sponge for new genetic material, and we're 'moderately' intelligent. This process went on for so long however that eventually some of the "post-abduction" populations developed into their own off-world colonies, countries, civs, etc.. The "Nordics" aren't aliens per-say, but a population of post-abduction humans who've developed a nation for themselves in the Pleiades star cluster. This situation, however, has a couple natural consequences: -Earth is basically space Africa: incredibly genetic diversity, but we live in object squaller, this is a 3rd world planet. -Nordics, and other post-abduction space-faring humans, have a kind of 1st world sympathy for us. They don't want to disturb our "indigenous culture", but they're psionic and highly developed, so they have little stomach for disease, famine, war, etc.. So there's a little bit of pity charity tourism. -The aforementioned poaching of humans as slaves still probably happens.
