So every medical denial needs an MD sign off. Thers two recognized bodies that publish care guidelines, one in Milliman & Roberts the other Interqual. Depending on the kind of care one is preferable to the other. But both list a triage process (for lack of a better term) to diagnose and treat conditions. What these tic tok doctors need to do is ask for the criteria, and then write a letter of appeal saying how/why the recommended prescribed course of treatment is not appropriate for their patient. Instead what we get are form letters from India saying the member needed the care. That's it. My team is on the phone all fucking day with doctors offices begging for clinical information. Maybe life is different with the big commercial carriers like United and Aetna, I wouldn't know. But we on the gov contractor side are drowning in incompetent followup from doctors offices and their records retention companies. Sucks yo.
