Inflation has made everything else more expensive, it doesn't make sense that video games stay the same price
>>
Good, usher in the golden age of piracy
and then if you try to shove denuvo into everything and anything it will backfire magnificently
>>
>>543662850
all games should be f2p.
>>
>>543662850
Btw Vavra is a jew
>>
Going to pirate it eventually. Not worth my money.
>>
they're already charging $400 for the collector's edition that doesn't even come with the game
how much more do you greedy fucking niggers want? hope the whole video game and movie industry burns and everyone in them loses their homes. you fucking niggers did this.
>>
>>543662850
Yes
>>
>>543662850
How much did AAA games cost in the late 90’s? What happens when we adjust that price to match inflation over the last 30 years?
>>
>>543662850
fuck's sake this nigger already charges $60 for Deliverance II when not on sale, wtf does he want?
>>
>>543663113

It's an indian company, sir

>>
>>543663213
$40-$60, it was literally the fucking same, sales aside
>>
>>543662850
Studios can attempt to charge whatever the fuck they want to for their games.
I haven't paid more than $20 for a game in at least 5 years though.
>>
File: OIP-2506683886.jpg (40 KB, 474x475)
40 KB JPG
I paid fucking $50 for this when it came out
>>
>>543662850
The fuck are they even charging for? There's zero costs to producing the disks because there are none.
They're already going to make money on cosmetic extras. In addition to "collector's editions" which don't even have the game attached. Take Two and Rockstar are just intent on being greedy assholes, locking single player content behind a paywall, and making sure even their employees get paid less. The game itself can be good, but the industry implications are nothing to celebrate.
>>
>>543663261
>it was literally the fucking same,
I dunno if you've noticed, but $50 in 2000 is $99 today.
The dollar is worth literally half of what it was just before 9-11.
>>
you could expect to pay $200-$400 for a system, the systems have gone up but the average price of the games themselves hasn't, not really
shows it must have been REALLY overpriced back then
>>
>>543662850
A much bigger market means massive economies of scale. Distribution costs are much cheaper, too.
>>
>>543663397
There is no economy of scale for video game development.
Each one is a unique 1 of 1 product...
>>
>>543663382
>shows it must have been REALLY overpriced back then
I can only guess they knew nobody was going to go for the price of them increasing significantly? now that I'm realizing it's actually comparatively much cheaper because same price despite inflation, I can't explain it
I know what I paid back then, however
>>
can definitely tell you I'd never pay $100 for one fucking game, that's outrageous
>>
>>543662850
I will still wait for the 75% discount
>>
>>543663357
They are charging for the multi-million dollar development costs...you don't think the cost of the plastic is why games have a price, do you?
>>
>>543662850
>Warhorse co-founder Martin Klima wants
das rite that surname is reserved just for real bulls

so say those were all $60, full price
that is $360 million

how much you think his dev costs were

Burden of proof being on yourself, please explain to the class why you believe that it "doesn't make sense" for a video game to stay the same price. Show us that you understand even a little bit about the development pipeline or where the majority of costs in game dev or publishing goes to. Show us anything that would create contrast for us to draw context and thus cognition from.
Please and thanks.
>>
>>543662850
bro has never seen a supply and demand graph. they're already charging the max possible price. every business works like this
>>
>>543662850
Charge whatever you want. I wouldn't even play this slop for free. Not my problem
>>
>>543663760
>they're already charging the max possible price.
this has to be why it hasn't increased really since the 90's; there's a maximum people are willing to pay for a vidya and it was set long ago, and even if inflation goes up, people would just stop buying and increase pirating
>>
>>543663734
GTA VI was $3 billion.
Thank you for staying on topi...oh wait. You you didn't.

>>
>>543662850
distributing games online is almost free and shouldn't be affected by inflation.
>>
>>543663636
So then give a single price for access to all the content of the game. Not "Pay us another $20" and we will allow you to access the files we already made."
Between stuff like that and the previous Trilogy Definitive Edition fuckery, I have little sympathy for their BS.

>>543663690

Not to mention when you buy the game for $60 it isn't the full game. The game launches with DLC on day one that's not included unless you pay extra
>>
>>543664117
companies like EA with old Maxis shit gets straight fucking predatory
>here's a game in 26 parts, you need to buy at least 9 of them to really have a "full" game but it's a GOOD game if you buy at least 15 (also all 26 will not function together well at all since we never designed it to be played with anyone buying all the DLC parts)

>>543662850

piracy is always free
>>
>>543664351
I'm just basing it on his non-sale steam price
granted steam probably takes as much as half or perhaps even more, though it probably scales down with steam taking a bit less for more significant sales numbers

also rockstar fucked up significantly by all accounts with this one, should not have taken $3 billion in dev costs
supposedly they wasted a shit ton of money trying indian devs (ironically to save money) to then spend even more money fixing the fucked up work of the indian devs, lol
>>
>>543663921

Two games aren't being discussed.
One game, GTA VI is.
The KC dev is saying he hopes corporations will feel emboldened to be money grubbing scumbags since Rockstar is doing it.
The facet that he made a different game once does not change the fact that GTA VI is the topic being discussed.

I know it's hard to believe, but piracy isn't going to last forever
the endgame of the whole "protect our children" digital ID thing is ID verification to your ISP every single time you start an internet session, and everything you do on that session being tied to your government identity
at that point or not long past even running shit like tor or bittorrent is going to be illegal
internet is getting balkanized
that is the future

they did finally figure out how to kill it they just have to take this slow route there, through a bunch of obvious "well that's not going to work you can just use someone else's ID to get on facebook" fail gates

yeah, free. anyone who is still paying is either not on pc (they have no choice unless they make the change), too retarded to know about the option to download for free, or they're paying because they *want* to in order to give support to that specific games devs
>>
>>543666442
usually when I pay now I've already pirated it so know it's not a waste of money
steam is increasingly making that difficult if you are into mods though, bunch of them now, the entire mod community and all the files is on steam, and like half of those there is zero workaround to get the mods at all other than buying it through steam (can't even use other digital retailers) and using their interface
>>
>>543663213
Games used to cost £40 here between 2000-2010
Then they went up to £45
Now they cost between £55-£70 depending on what that particular dev thinks they can get away with
>>
I will never spend more than 30 euros pn a single videogame, and only if it's the complete game with every goyLC inclued
>>
better hope they don't find some way to edge out shit like joy2key from functioning right cause some now, without steam, the controller use disappears from ingame entirely
>>
>>543662850
Why should videogames inflate in price if pretty much every game in history is still available for sale? Why should I pay a premium for a new game when I can buy a 20 years old game for a fraction of the price? Prices can't inflate if there's infinite competition.
>>
>>543666597

I do agree with this but have also been an extremely broke nigger for whom piracy was a necessity or nothing, though thankfully not anymore
definitely haven't made even a tenth of the retail value of all the shit I've pirated over the years, though I've bought a fair amount as well

I dont care about the jeet angle this is just an easy method to make retards hate this dogshit game. Rockstar has NEVER made a single good game in their established history of being a company, it has always been banal boring normalfaggot garbage for the utmost niggercattle.
>hurr I steal... LE CAR
>durr I drive... LE REAL CAR
>hurr I commit... LE FELONY
>durr I buy... LE GUNS AND DRUGS
>hurr I pay... LE PROSTITUTE
Vile groid simulators to vicariously live out fantasies from rap songs. Or equally faggy banal boring refuse to simulate cowboys. Fuck I despise this company and everything it has produced. They will forever be an inferior imitation to the Yakuza games produced by an infinitely superior country and culture.

>it doesn't make sense that video games stay the same price
it does
the more video games move to digital only, the more they have to convince people to give them money to rent the license
and i'm not giving them a single cent for that license
it's a matter of offer and demand, if they make people choose to not give them money, they make less money then if they had charged less
with some luck we won't get fucked by normies just giving them money
but sadly you can never trust that the goyium won't fuck things up
so i will just buy my physical switch games instead of bothering with sony

How do they not understand that just because people will pay 80 to 100 bucks for GTA it doesn't mean people will pay that for their random game? You have to be a mega turbo normie game to get away with it like GTA, FIFA, Madden, COD, Mario, Zelda, Pokemon, Resident Evil and probably 2 or 3 other franchises.

If they were making games with the same amount of labour as they were two decades ago they could charge half of what they do and still turn a profit.
