I’ve never believed in the death penalty. To me, two wrongs don’t make a right, even when the crime is horrific. I’d rather see the justice system keep dangerous offenders locked up and learn as much as possible from them. In some cases, understanding how they think, what led them to commit their crimes, and what warning signs were missed could help law enforcement prevent similar crimes in the future. The idea that an execution somehow completes the bigger picture or brings everything full circle just doesn’t sit right with me.
