France is really something else, one of the worst riots in modern times was caused by speed cameras and fuel taxes. Any other country would have boomers write angry letters to newspaper over such issues, but France they burn down society over minor grievances.
I wish more other western countries stood their ground like that.

They succeeded though. The protest was over the fuel taxes "to protect the environment" and also lowing speed limits to punish drivers and save fuel to better comply with EU green goals.
The yellow vests made a mess but the outcome was:
