I thought Canada was joining the EU, what happened was it just to bait Trump?
>>
>>543741687
after they join CANZUK, so it will be CANZUKEU
>>
>>543741687
There's lots of free trade going on between EU and Canada.
>>
>>543741687
Canada is joining US, it was said many times

>>543742399
>free trade
sure it’s free for, just the prices are as high as never before
>>

An associate membership would be possible. However fully joining the Eu was never on the table. Becoming an full Eu member would require adjusting adjusting article 49, which states that only countries on European continent are allowed to join. For Canada there are also a ton of downsides, like having to adapt the euro and giving away a lot of power to brussel for regulations, which would have a huge negative impact on their trade in North America.

I wish communists were funny.
>haha price high
>>
>>543743238
Isn't that bullshit I remember France and Netherlands have a bunch of islands in Africa and the Americas that are part of the EU full
>>
>>543743269
Yes, as this regions are colonies. Having very little autonomy. I doubt Canada wants to give up their autonomy to become a giver state in the European union. The negatives outweighs the positives by a lot.

It looks like its more about energy the US is not importing Canadian energy and we are not importing Russian energy so Canada needs a market to sell to and we need a market to buy from. We could include them as members its only 40 million of them
>>
>>543743440
Possible, but not meaningful. Canada is most likely aiming to negotiate becoming an EEA member like Iceland or Norway. Which would open the Eu market for them, without having to give up power and sovereignty.
>>
they made up the term 'associate membership' to specifically piss off Trump, it's all the same free trade and defense contracts and the like that was being negotiated as before. It is a signal of both pivoting away from America; Trump has that effect on people.

It's basically the Honorary Aryan of EU memberships. A polite gesture.
>>
>>543743668
Not really, associate members right now are for example turkey, Moldova and Balkan states. However you are correct on one thing, an associate member is a very broad term, as each contract can differ heavily.
>>
What kind of politician willingly gives up control over his country ? It made sense in 1999 when everyone thought the world would destroy itself.
