How old were you when you first realized the medical field is a sham, doctors don't actually know why most "diseases" even happen. They don't know anything. All my life i thought doctors were "healers", that they knew everything and the medical field was so advanced and knowledgeable in 2020s but no, once you get sick and realize they don't actually know anything. The cause is unknown is what you will hear. Now i got diagnosed with 5cm hiatal hernia and the doctor says "we don't know why it happens, either take these pills to manage symptoms for the rest of your life or do this very risky surgery that likely will make things worse, oh and the pills will cause you long term negative changes aswell".
What are we doing here man? i am not a fan of A.I but there are two things i am hopeful about. One is the obvious and that is having a local LLM having your entire medical history and it is better than most GPs. Two is the more important one and that is A.I finding new cures/treatments and finding out root causes of diseases because it's quite clear these people will not do it. The medical field isn't even advancing, it's stuck. Their default treatment for so many things is to get a scalpel and start slicing away, that's what they call "gold standard", an absolute joke.
>>
Another example is luigi mangionin, we all know what happened there. Back pain, back surgeries gone bad causing chronic back pain, no solution, just pain meds which don't really work. There's a neurosurgeon/spinal surgeon on youtube that even quit his job because he had to come to terms with the fact that spinal surgeries were doing more harm than good.

>hiatal hernia
So, a part of your stomach slipped through the opening in the diaphragm. I imagine that it was causing you to experience chronic acid reflux, and that the pills they want you to take reduce stomach acid production, right?

>we don't know why it happens
Have you been doing a lot of heavy lifting? Basically, it is just caused by a lot of pressure being put on the stomach, which results in it being pushed upward through the diaphragm.

>very risky surgery
I don't know why they would tell you that. It can be fixed via a minimally invasive "keyhole surgery," that involves making just two small cuts in the abdomen - one for the small surgical instrument, and the other for the small camera. The doctor then uses the instrument to push the stomach back into place, and might also put in a mesh, or tie of some kind, to tighten up the opening in the diaphragm.

>>543780324
i figured this out in 2019. it's all completely jewed
>>
>>543780324
I popped 5 lower spine discs getting out of bed too quickly in the middle of the night... when I was only 35...
3 MRIs, two surgical needles guided by CT scans into my spine to inject cortisol or some form of steroids?
Still fucking hurts and I cannot stand in one spot for 15 minutes, or my back is FUCKED for days after. So now all I can do is get a yearly spine injection, and take muscle relaxers (tizanidine).
And actual surgery is like 55% chance it gets WORSE, 20% chance it gets better and 25% its no change. So surgery is not an option.
After covid though, I lost ALL respect for "doctors". Nothing but Big Pharma snake oil salesmen.
>>
im turning 39 this year and last time i went to a doctor (besides physical required for jobs) i think i was like 17. probably jinxed myself for posting this..thanks op
>>
>>543781357
Yeah i started vomiting late last year and got chronic reflux, i went on PPIs for 5 months, then a h2 blocker for another month, i had to stop taking them. These meds cause mechanical changes in your body, it's not good at all. Now i "manage" by taking gaviscon every night for the past 5 months just so i can get some sleep otherwise no sleep for me and i'll vomit. The pills are no good. Gaviscon doesnt cause any mechanical changes atleast but it's not a cure. No i havent done any heavy lifting in maybe 6 years. That's the fucking bullshit part, and i'll tell you something even more bullshit, i got a herniated disk 3 years ago that has caused me back pain almost every day since, and did i lift anything heavy? Nope, i bent down to pick my phone up and CRACK, there goes my disk and my life. And ofc there's no solution for this either besides very risky back surgery, just take painkillers for life is the "advice" they have given me.
The keyhole surgery you're talking about is the one they usually perform i'm pretty sure but again it is not safe at all and can cause things to be worse than before. Look up people complaining about having the surgery. 5cm is not small btw, it's fairly large, most people have 1-3cm. My body is so fucked up, my entire musculoskeletal system is not right, pelvic floor dysfunction, herniated disk, and now this new issue. I literally go to bed hoping i don't wake up, i'm so fucking tired of this shit.
>>
>>543781713
Brutal, beyond brutal honestly. I was 27 when i popped my first disk. Spinal surgery just makes it worse, almost everyone who goes through with it ends up having multiple surgeries and they just end up living with chronic pain for the rest of their life. It's fucked. The whole covid thing really shed a lot of light, unfortunately i did not heed the warnings in front of me and start taking care of my health, although there's nothing really you can do about this shit anyways, you just live and then your fucking disk pops and you're fucked, doesn't make sense, it's just bullshit. Just take le painkillers rest of your life and fuck your liver up is what my doctor wants me to do. No fucking thanks, i watched my mother take painkillers for 20 years and the effect it had on her liver, i ain't doing that.
>>
>>543781775
Damn, have you lead a sedentary lifestyle prior to the crack.
>>
>>543781726
if you made it to 39 without needing to go to the doc, you have good genes + lucked out because even people who live a healthy fit lifestyle end up having something go wrong. Just keep doing what you're doing i guess, it's working.
>>
>>543780324
Don't lift like a retard, practice good posture, and exercise your back muscles and you probably won't have many problems
>>
>>543781984
unfortunately yes, i'm a lifelong NEET, 20 - 30 NEET and the crack happened at 27. I didn't even know what the fuck a herniated disk even was prior to it happening. Sitting in front of a computer all day for years makes all your muscles tight and weak, your mobility just goes and evne a basic function like bending down to pick something up will fuck your shit up.
>>
>>543780324
I've known since I was 6yo
My opinion of them continued to decline the older I became
>>
>>543782014
I lifted my 2lb phone from the floor, i have learnt that you shouldn't lift heavy at all and deadlifts should be avoided honestly, even if your posture is good because it just puts too much strain/pressure on the spine/back. Another thing you should do to avoid back problems/herniated disk is to strengthen the surrounding muscles. If the muscles around your back/spine are strong, they will take the load off and prevent injury. A lot of lifters don't understand mobility is just as important as focusing on strength, you need to stretch, yoga/etc is unironically very important.
>>
>>543781713
>>543781775
My father had spinal fusion surgery for his L4 and L5 vertebrae. It fixed his sciatica pain that radiated down his leg, but it didn't fix his lower back pain. Unfortunately, nerve injuries are one area that medical science hasn't advanced enough to completely fixed yet. Maybe the herniated discs shift the spinal cord in such a way that causes a permanent pain response? Either way, trying to mess with the spinal cord directly is far too risky.

Sometimes these problems can be 100% congenital. Some people could just be born with a weak spine that is prone to injury, or a weak diaphragm that is prone to hiatal hernias. Remember, there are many young children who get cancer that are entirely the result of being born with a mutant gene or two.
>>
>>543781956
For me, its because I am 6 foot 6 (like 200cms I think? and I POPPED out of bed at 3am to piss. Think of putting a wooden ruler over a tale, and SMACKING the end while holding the other end firmly on the table. That's what my back did. So I guess my fault? But fuck me it sucks.
And Ive avoided actual surgery hearing all these horror stories.
So Im stuck with yearly injections, tizanidine, and knowing I can NEVER stand still ever again. (walking is usually fine, sitting fine, just can NOT stand in one place for 15 minutes or im fucked for a week)
I even ditched normal doctors after spending DECADES trying to heal some shit like allergies, first doc say "you have 6 allergies" and a 2nd allergist lying and saying" you arent allergic to ANYTHING", and me saying bullshit and going to a 3rd fucking doctor and finding out I have 6 BAD ones and 7 other small allergies. None of these doctors fucking know anything.
Oh, and I had BRAIN CANCER for 2 years... I had a brain MRI where they "found a 2cm tumor"
I got a 2nd MRI a few years after who couldn't find shit.
And I got a 3rd MRI 2 years after that and still couldn't find the "tumor"...
So either I magically healed myself, or its all nonsense and reading tea leaves on the computer monitors
Fuck Pharma doctors, but I DID recently change to a more holistic doctor who uses Christ imagery and name of the clinic "new heaven" or something, where they are OPENLY holistic if the patient wants to go that route. Sow ell see if I actually get some help with this new guy
When he asked about why I cant sleep and mentioned shit along the lines of "islam taking over America" he replied back with "we have two paths, either Revelations comes true, or we will pick up arms". So he is based as fuck (and has like 8 children and lives in the countryside).
So keep looking for based doctors who aren't up the ass of BigPharma jews, there are some gems out there. (he even prescribed me some Ivermectin pills, which is hard to get).

well i guess being that tall is a double edged sword, women love the height but your spine isn't able to handle the stress, it does sound odd that just getting out of bed could cause such a huge amount of injury but then again i got mnie from jsut bending down but i'm not tall so there's that. The thing is one person reading the MRI sees one thing, the other doesn't, vice versa. You never know who is right. Honestly that fucking sucks that you cant stand in one place for more than 15 minutes, that's really limiting especially when you're that tall but atleast you can walk, a lot of people get pain even from walking, i know my spine starts hurting if i walk more than 20 minutes.

Tom Morrison's "Simplistic Mobility method" has been a gold standard for me after a disc herniation. I learned more from it than years and years of physio therapy and doctors visits.
Identifying movement limitations in the hips and spine and getting everything feeling strong and stable again was never something any of the doctors ever talked about and it's like "shit, they really don't know things, do they?"
Likewise, being able to manage intra-abdominal pressure is crucial. But why isn't this common knowledge? Its a legitimate red pill and it shouldn't be.
>>
>>543782606
well not necessarily, the medical field simply does not know why hiatal hernias occur, infact there are lots of conditions where they do not know why it has happened, only how to manage with pills.
>>543782673

>>
>>543783164
the physio at my GP just gives me some shitty exercises that made me worse so i stopped. I need to find a proper private physio who can help. I will give that book a read so thanks for it. I've learnt hips/surrounding muscles need to be strengthened to support the spine/disk.

You sound weak as fuck and also lazy. You deserve everything you get.
>>
>>543783276
Don't lift heavy, don't do deadlifts, strengthen the muscles around the lower back/spine, make sure you do yoga/mobility work. It's that simple, you can still get unlucky though like i did.
>>
>>543783117
Eventually you just always land on:

Mate, please, do yourself a favour and check out Tom Morrison.
Get your hips moving well, learn to hip hinge and sideplank - I spent years and years doing the outdated exercises you're probably familiar with and SMM was like, 60 quid and after 2 weeks my piriformis pain was gone. Learn to move again, it'll change your life! Wish you well.

my family doctor 10 years ago said I had a hiatial hernia or something like that and needed surgery but she retired shortly after and I've been without a doctor since. I have this large palm shaped soft lump on the right of my belly button that appears only when I do crunches or lean forward weirdly so maybe it just got worse.

My right nut also swelled so much there is no feeling there and my balls are like 3 times larger and it's probably testicular cancer but it's been like this for 4 years so I think I would be dead by now if that's the case. I'm hoping it's just the hernia that transferred or expanded down to the groin area because it lines up with the lump on my belly.

MAID is always an option tho

Preferably grow your own drugs.
>>
>>543784594
funnily enough my right testicle is off aswell, it doesn't hang as low as my left and was a little painful few weeks ago, i wonder if there is a connection with a hiatal hernia and it.

>>543780324
Also, Back Mechanic is good but it's insufficient if you're actually interested in doing heavy squats and deadlift. You have to rebuild your back: follow squat university, low back ability and athlean-x on youtube. Back Mechanic is a good start, though.

Court people tend to be complete evil psychopaths as well.

I went to a doctor once years ago for extreme mystery back pain, and the lady made me sit there for 2 hours where she told me “pee in this cup, we want to check for markers”. I did, waited another 2 hours, and the lady walked in and told me I was clean of all drugs and to fuck off out of her office. My jaw dropped on the floor. I asked her what the fuck, what about my back pain? She said that she didnt know and didnt care, that she tested me for drugs to see if I had any in my system so she could call the cops on me. I didnt, so no dice, and I was useless to her. Those were her words.

I still have the fucking back pain.

I started doing this back in june on the advice of a spinal surgery nurse and physical therapist. I do the press ups and backwards stretching every day.
I went from "it hurts too much to walk" to "I feel a little pain."
I am still holding off heavy lifting. I am getting steroid injections. I also use a warehouse workers belt.

Terrifying thread. I lift 15kg of cat food every week, just hug the sack and pick it up. Guess I should be more careful with that since I weigh just 70kg. But getting rekt getting up from bed? That is messed up. My brother's lower back hurts a lot because his girlfriend was trying to give him a massage fifteen years ago and apparently pinched something. Still fucked to this day. Anyway, I sleep on a rather hard matress and I find that usually fixes whatever pain I feel in my back

Bro I have been exercising every day in the last year and I still got a herniated disk.
Whether it happens or not is probably a function of heredity more than anything.
In my case, I think I exercised too much, I used to do tens of exercises for abs and this probably made the disc crack.

So it's not just sedentary life. It's ageing but also heredity.
Sure lack of exercise is also bad, but you can also break something through exercise.
