Memes aside, why did the French people choose to import so many Africans? How did this benefit France?
>>
>>543785097
cos they had all those French colony's in Africa?
>>
>>543785415
Nope; that doesn't necessitate mass-immigration. Mass-immigration is always a policy choice. Japan had colonies as far away as New Guinea and India, but did not import its colonials en masse to the Japanese home islands.

the policy choice was all the dead French after WW1 and WW2. French colonies had the right to live in France, this only ended in 1993 (the specific law was called the '1993 Nationality Ordinance (The Pasqua-Méhaignerie Law)'). that's almost 10-20 years later than when we started to restrict it.

>why would a empire mingle with its subjects
jee idk anon maybe history and human nature can enlighten us
>>
>>543785509
it was after WW2, they needed cheap labour to rebuild, so they imported them from the African colonies
>>
>>543785999
it wasn't just WW2, it was WW1 too. them both so close together completely fucked France.
>>
>>543786126
then I guess they just forgot to stop it until 1993

Because America won WW2 and decided to export its mass migration culture as a form of social colonization.
>>
In all our countries this decision was made by a very small sliver of the population that can be described as "politicians, bureaucrats, businessmen, and bankers" who have nothing to do with the people at large. Even the cops who enforce their orders don't like them, at least until they get replaced by communist cadres like what happened in britain. This class of jackasses representing around .5% of the population decided to bring in millions of foreigners and everyone just kind of muddled along with it. The same jackasses made it illegal to criticize or reject the foreigners.

originally it seemed to just be colonial hangover, not closing the laws out of convenience. now they have to actively do it. a lot of the immigrants in France seem fresh off the boat so there is some other way in. student visas, work visas, entering illegally etc.

You have to keep in mind that in the age of TV from 50s to 90s, all media was strictly controlled and uttering the same narrative about equality and shit. Meanwhile, if you live in an homogenous society, and the only people thatve been rough on you are your own, and especially if youre a business owner or landlord, you'd want people who'd pay more rent for less land or take less wages for more work done; you'd overlook whatever cultural pecularities as long as they live farway from you. Also, some of the oldest gen sctually experienced life in the colonies and liked the warm weather and thralls of slaves serving them at every behest and harems of young exotic animalistic whores and so forth. They wanna relive that
