Ultimately Tito should've clamped down on federalism in Yugoslavia instead of giving in in 1974. Even at the cost of rolling in the tanks. But there was also the contradictory problem of a weird centralization that shouldn't have happened, centralizing everything around Belgrade like Moscow in the Soviet Union. Tito should've gradually turned it into a unitary state but without Sovietesque centralization. Instead of federal states of Croatia, Serbia etc. they should've been provinces with centrally-appointed governors & then there should be some local government but at a lower, municipal level
