In a non-capitalist economy, would that $5,000 even represent a comparable scarce resource? I don't think so. The $5,000 is a monetary valuation created within a particular economic system, not inherently equivalent to $5,000 worth of food or other necessities being taken away from everyone else. I also don't think you can make a 1-to-1 comparison between a capitalist and a non-capitalist economy and assume that the monetary value assigned to goods under capitalism would translate directly into an equivalent quantity of necessities under another system. Maybe you can, I'm not entirely sure how much of the semantics of money matter in such comparison, I do agree in another system labor and resources would be directed better in some ways, but still worse in others.
