PRECIOUS!!!
Im reading a chapter a night to the kids. We just finished the choices of master samwise and they shed a shit ton ofnl tears when they thought frodo was deadI also do voices for each character. Faramir and boromir sound the same lol.
>>543842983You're doing the Lord's work, anon. God Bless and godspeed
>>543842983The best chapter is The Scouring Of The Shire.
>>543842983My dad forced me to read to him, at like 3. Great first memory dad. I mean, yeah, it was like the prose edda translated, but I was 3 and he insisted I knew how to read so he wasn't going to anymore.
>>543843042Its amazing. Youngest hides and oldest sits right near me. Its a special thing I never had as a child. >>543843585Ole sharkey hehe. They freaked out in moria and also shelobs lair since all lights were off but a candle.Im sad I didnt record the whole thing but ill do it again someday.Have children and protect them and teach them. Its hard for me because like yoshitsune; I was never able to share my childhood love with my father.
>>543843762Well... my kids were early readers but I truly enjoy teaching pronunciation and cadence for affect. I just wish it could last forever. Someday im going to be dead and I wish I could always protect them. They are the most wonderful children ive ever been around.
>>543843762My dad read the Hobbit to me. But then when the LotR movies were coming out he told us we have to read them first before we could see them because he wasn't going to let the movies be our first exposure.I was only 8 and I worked my ass off to read through the books. My sister was 12 and didn't even finish the first one. We all got to see it of course. I didn't get so much as an extra treat at the theater or even a "sorry". I learned that day that shit isn't fair and no one cares how hard you work.
>>543844252I told the kids the same thing. Its wonderful to imagine it first since once you are exposed to imagery your brain will default to it.I always think of the rotoscoped movie and wish it was complete. A total trip vs movie.I should have started with the hobbit in hindsight
He gonna get a ring from vaticAnus for his service like Jackie O did!
>>543844252Ps. You were too young to appreciate it and it became a regardless chore.I felt the same way with Steppenwolf and Siddhartha as a teenager. I re read them a few years back and.... it hit deeply and filled me with regret for saying NO and limiting my experiences based on presumption of others
>>543844529Oh trust me, I know. I appreciate the books much more now. If I didn't have the experience of feeling like I was lied to and did it for nothing I wouldn't have minded it. My experience was ignored as well. Of course it seems so small now but when you're a kid, being told one thing by your parents and then doing another and then your protests being ignored on top of that feels terrible. I think it may have colored the rest of my experience with my parents, a warning to any parent anons out there.
>>543844015My dad's buddy was a really good story teller. Made up this entire world of little gnome men with moral tales. One was a guy whose butt was permanently blue because he fell in the lake when it was frozen.
>>543844015Wish my kids were like that. Two are turbo strong willed and praying that the third is a break.
>>543844854I agree and had similar experiences but was just.... alone most of the time. Dad died when I was 3 and mom and sister (8 years older) just did their own thing. Alone in the woods.Father's day felt weird always. Such an awful mother. Oh well. Builds character right? *bootstrap*>>543845152Wonderful. Im learning guitar soon so we have a partridge family period too.>>543845508#1 the first is the adventurer.(blond and blue) The first to do it and will always try to be the apple of your eye. Advanced but strong willed and must be tempered#2 the mediator (hazel / sandy blond) always negotiating with kindness, very into books and will find them alone reading somewhere#3 wild style (green / light brown) trying to make a niche and always exploring and asking questions constantly which I answer in long diatribe #4 the baby (blue and sandy blond) only 6 months old and just starting to wake upI wish I had kids when i was younger. There is no greater joy than a child's love i have learned. Nothing greater to protect than their innocence. We dont isolate them but I let them know how special they really are. Less than 1% of the world's population. Im giving them what I never had; a racial soul
>>543846457Ps. Ive never had to spank them since I dont believe in pain. Time outs and ifnits serious; restrain them with a hug and back pats until they are finished. Now when they really fuck up they realize it, will take a bit to calm down, then apologize normally crying. My mom spanked me once and I never understood why she had to hurt me... it changed how I felt towards her.I was at a friend's house and his dad beat him with a fucking belt because he took 5 seconds to do something. Wifes parents wer3 child beaters too, and mutilated their boy
