Australia has the technology to fill the Great Artesian Basin and change the ecology from dry desert to Mediterranean climate and sub tropical lush paradise and even part rainforest that will allow the continent to hold over 1,000,000,000 people and have an inland sea civilization as grand as the Great Lakes or Mediterranean.

This will turn Australia from a Canada (big landmass but mostly useless for human habitat) to an America (you command a continent sized landmass with very valuable land)

That's a deep basin. Just fill it with water by daming the QLD rivers then blowing the dams. They could easily do it it's just a matter od having the courage even if it means some boring desert bug goes extinct.

So will they be using sea water or collected waters from dams and resevoirs? Could they use solar dresnal lensing to just evaporate a shit ton of ocean water while cloud seeding a shit tone near these fresnal lenses near the basin so most of the evaporated moisture falls over the basin?

It would be better to connect the lakes in south Australia to the sea than whatever this is.
>>
>>543853206
Suppose they did dig straight through the range, funneling the water through that is gonna be tricky. Even with multi km squared solar pumps with billions of sodium ion batteries running 24/7, thats just too much water to siphon through a narrow artificial mtn pass into the desert regions. Is that a altitude map? If so, the perfect place for this is the narrow ridge by muttabara up north and the gap in the south by what appears to be maitland.
>>
>>543853637
but why? for agriculture only? if we're talking about settlement, aus needs to LOSE like 6 million people. not gain. although new agricultural land will be sparsely populated anyways ig if it's purely for agriculture.

australia has a big opportunity on its hand as countries like india, pakistan and those in ASEAN will only have larger and larger demand for australian food and agricultural products. could be a highly automated rich breadbasket for the third world

>>
Australia could easily have been the richest country on earth, but fucked itself through TERRIBLE Governance through the 1990s, 2000s and 2010s.
Went through the Mining Boom, but elected basically Thatcher tier Neolibs, so sold all their resources basically at cost to Japan, India, China and Qatar, then bought them back at 4x the price leaving them coming out of the mining boom in debt. Mining Boom exports also massively boosted the Australian dollar, killing domestic industry.
Australia made - $285 Billion from the Mining Boom but then had to buy everything back at more expensive costs.
With a Sovereign Wealth Fund it is estimated it would have made $3 Trillion+
Average Australian earned - $0 from the Mining Boom
Comparison, Norway earned - $350,000 per citizen from theirs.
The retarded Government as well, like the EU, were basically American bootlickers, destroyed all of Australia's cultural industry, attacking Australian TV, Video Game and Music production. Driving them into the ground as well and replacing them with US cultural exports. Oh and they also signed the AUSFTA which further fucked the Australian economy to the benefit of the US.
>>543849402
Problem is Salt Water might actually fuck everything more, it would destroy the great artesian basin. Same reason Egypt hasn't filled Qattara Depression yet because the salt might seep down and destroy Egypt underground aquifers.

>>543854322
Plus a resevoir to hold all the collective river flow near the narrow mtn gaps dug by the machinery. Its possible, but we'd have to bombard alot of the mtns just to get the rock loose for excavation. Basically with current tech atleast a decade of excavation or if they have enough bombs a few months of quite literally blasting though narrow mtn ridges.
>>
>>543854444
Can you explain the mechanics of a norway style wealth fund?
>>
>>543854688
literally all u need to do is not be fucking retarded and invest a proportion of your proceeds into a diversified portfolio. because of the fund, every norwegian is an instant millionaire technically
>>
>>543854688
Norway has a 78% effective marginal tax rate on oil and gas cash flow. on top of owning 70% of their Gas and Oil industry. They dump this into a diversified portfolio then earns even more cash.
Australia had a 30% corporate tax on Mining, but it was filled with so many loopholes they got basically little out of it.
Australia for example, sold 100 million tonnes of Gas, but only made $10 billion out of it, meanwhile Qatar for example for the same amount, made $67 billion. Australia would also sell the gas to Japan, but then, need to buy it back to actually use in Australia. That is right, Australia kept no gas for domestic use.
Don't even get me started on Howard selling off all of Australia's gold at so far below cost it literally crashed the entire Global Gold market.
John Howard was genuinely a Thatcher/Ayn Rand style fanatic on top of being a gun grabbing, nanny state authoritarian. The nanny state shit has only accelerated in Australia since then. It's one of the major reasons I moved countries.
>>
>>543854736
Well too late for that, the boom is over and another war in the middle east ruined global fuel prices and destroyed shipping routes in the red sea and hormussy due iran and yemen

>>
>>543854983
ikr they fucking destroyed the country. didn't even industrialize it. you don't hate boomers enough
>>
>>543854933
Oh to add to this, Australian scientists came up with new Solar Panel technology, they wanted to start new manufacturing and industry in Australia, but Howard, being a fucking coal industry fuckhead, told them no, it's not allowed. China scooped up the same scientists, and they founded China's solar panel market and created the largest Solar Panel company on earth.

it really leaves one fucking speechless. how does a country like canada, which literally sits on trillions of dollars, have thousands of people waiting for hours in lines to work at fucking walmart
>>
>>543854933
Man, thats some retarded levels of neoliberalism. Sold gas cheaper, never keeping any for donestuc use and just buy it at higher prices alobe is enough ti devestate most countries. You're right that was lunacy. But now how do they recoup the losses from bad governance?
>>
>>543855064
all these countries needed to was dig up the stuff, process it using their cheap energy, and ship it off. while also not giving all the ownership away for pennies. yet they both managed to turn their countries to shit
>>
>>543849402
Yeah. Australia actually is the site of the next great civilisation. Probably why America is building so many bases here and deploying a lot of defensive equipment. The only question is when are (You) moving here?

It's nothing really but a bunch of Government buildings and low density suburbia spread over dispersed towns.
Most interesting thing about Canberra is it's initial plans as a planned city, that were never actually carried out. Even the official plan that was accepted, was only really followed for road layout.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nD2r9R1tLAo
Good thing about Canberra though is that if you live there, you can get an easy 6 figure job. At least that used to be the case back in the 1990s/2000s. So many of my friends moved to Canberra for Government jobs straight out of high school and are now sitting on 150kAUD while they complain they do 5 hours of work a week. One of my friends literally said he wasn't given any work for something like 3 years. Then when he handed in his resignation (from sheer boredom), they asked him who he even was lmao.

It can be done with robot trees.

>What is a robot tree?
It's something I invented while talking to an AI. It's not slop though. So, you have a robot tree, it's a solar powered pump. It pulls water from underneath the top soil. This lowers the water table. Now, this water is salinated (which is why most of anything won't grow in the desert). Next step, the water is purified in the sun by the robot tree (it pumps the water into an evaporation chamber so that the water can be separated from the salt... the salt is a valuable by product of this process). Once the purified water is obtained, it is sprinkled over the ground. It seeps through the soil and is eventually pulled in by the pump. We therefore have a cycle, fresh water rinsing the soil from the top, salt water being extracted from below, and after a while we get scrubbed, desalinated soil, in which we can grow real trees.

You might be wondering how the salinated water table from nearby doesn't seep into the area. That's a good point, but what you do is put barriers into the soil, deep enough that they block the water table. This allows you to desalinate a section of land at a time. After the robot trees are done, the real trees get planted, so this is a progressive process.
>>
>>543856359
lets get your robot trees into the ground asap
