If you are a zoomie and start work at 18 chances are you will already have a pension contribution taken out of PAYE and then matched by your employer. I don't think the standard private pension will secure a "good" income in old age, people need to be more aggressive with risk when young, but it should hopefully mean people don't hit 60-70 with zero pension and collapse the state pension. There is a generation of Xers that are in their 50s and have zero pension fyi, so pensions will likely be an issue for another 40+ years. The other thing to bear in mind is that changes to the state pension will mainly be inflicted on younger generations who will pay pension transfers for decades and get less and less out of it when they eventually retire, possibly even net negative lol.
