Google is introducing a controversial new feature in its Chrome browser that will silently remove certain downloaded files judged to contain misinformation or propaganda after a set period, the company has confirmed.The system, currently being rolled out to a limited number of users in selected regions, analyses download patterns and browsing behaviour. Files identified as potentially harmful misinformation could be deleted automatically after a few hours or days after they are saved, without requiring user confirmation.Google said the feature is designed “to protect users from the rapid spread of false and misleading content” and that the timing of the deletion is deliberately delayed so that legitimate research or temporary access is not immediately disrupted.A company spokesperson told the BBC: “We have developed sophisticated models that look at how, when and in what context a file is downloaded. If our systems determine a high likelihood that the material is being used to spread misinformation or coordinated propaganda, Chrome will remove the local copy after a period.”

Otherwise I use brave browser for day to day shit - email, Facebook to chat with my parents, trolling 4 chan. If it wasnt for having to be online for work, I'd probably only access the net with my phone for basic shit. I hope I eventually find an irl job like security like I use to do so I can cancel my home isp and just use my phone for whatever I actually need to do online.
there're Librewolf, Ungoogled-Chromium, Helium browser, Warerfox, Mullvad browser and Palemoon.
Obviously don't use chrome but if you really must then use a slightly older version where ublock still works and disable updates.
