Obviously whether you think whether the working class is anymore “”oppressed”” under capitalism then under socialism comes down to ideology but there’s denying the rightwing turn the broader world has had since the world has had since the collapse of the Soviet Union. If the Soviet Union were around today I very much doubt we would have seen political movements for remigration becoming popular in the west; I doubt even more people would be waking up to the JQ.It’s only once the internal liberal debate between socialism and capitalism was settled that the right could move on to inserting its own topics for discussion into the public consciousness.I have no doubt Marxist or even liberal intellectual from the 1970s would be absolutely horrified to se the state overton window today but such is the fruit of defeating communism. As much as people on here shit on Regan and the Neo-Cons they did do ONE THING fundamentally right whether they intended to or not; they cleared the way for something to new to grow out of the wreckage of the failed idealism of the 20th century.
